Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was amazing and they explained each dish and it came out in good time."
  • "The food is absolutely amazing, I don't think I've found such delicious Persian food anywhere in the western world."
  • "The different dishes were amazing - halloumi that tasted like sticky toffee pudding was my favourite."

  • "Food was delicious, some really innovative menu options."
  • "The food is amazing, so suited to the part of the world it comes from. Full of flavour, not focused on fanciness and show but real, delicious and heartfelt food."

Cons:

  • "The food is middling however; it lacks flavour, and is still very rich - not a winner in my book."
  • "The dish tasted like a microwaved ready meal and was undercooked and dry."
  • "Cosy place but compared to other Persian restaurants that I have tried the food here was just average which was disappointing having read other reviews."
  • "The taste of most of the dishes were bland and the food was lukewarm."
  • "but the portions for the cost were the meanest I have ever come across this is street food at stupid prices....avoid"
  • "The food itself is fairly average, and some of the dishes eg the ‘gumbo’ were weird."
  • "Portions are stingy and small even for a 2 Man starter size so disappointed."

Service

Pros:

  • "Sally, who runs the place, is a bit like a hostess; very attentive from the moment you walk through the door."
  • "The staff were super friendly and welcoming."
  • "The staff are also fantastic, and very accommodating."
  • "The staff +owner are so kind. You feel like a guest in their home eating there. So welcoming and understanding."
  • "The staff are lovely, and the vibe is great."
  • "Staff is very nice and polite."
  • "The staff are so awesome friendly and chatty."

Cons:

  • "However after waiting to be seen to a table you find out how close the tables are together."
  • "The service forgot things I'd asked for about 3 times."
  • "Sadly, Persepolis is no longer the kind of dining adventure I'm up for after making an advance booking."
  • "When we shared our feedback with the waitress we were immediately met with defensiveness."
  • "This amazing kooky restaurant is let down by always slow (took us 90 minutes from sit down to receive mains last time!), sometimes terrible and rude service."
  • "The service can be pretty poor too: recently a waitress was so busy talking to her mate that she couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge me as paid my bill."
  • "Service is always very friendly and welcoming even though it may be slow at times."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The interior is quirky and cosy."
  • "The vibe is quirky, casual and fun."
  • "If the weather is good, ask to sit upstairs in the terrace which has a really nice atmosphere!"
  • "Very quaint, artisan, relaxed atmosphere."
  • "Wonderful atmosphere, the place feels very loved and cared for and a lot of personality."
  • "The atmosphere was so warm and homely."
  • "The atmosphere was really relaxed."

Cons:

  • "However at £25pp (+ service) the tasting menu is too expensive."
  • "The front door bell was ringing loudly and with a horrible tune every-time someone came in which was often: it became really annoying."
  • "Sadly the music was terrible loud dance/trance from the nougties."
  • "The atmosphere is fantastic though, cosy and shabby."
  • "The place looks run down and rest-rooms are dirty (don’t go in them)."
  • "This tiny space is adorned with greasy orientalist paintings."
  • "Such a nice vibe in the restaurant but unfortunately it was killed by the waitress who greeted us rudely and would barely let us get our orders out."

Value

Pros:

  • "For reasonably priced culinary delights set in a 'your not in London', experience them look no further."
  • "The products were fresh and I am very happy with my order."
  • "Everything was very affordable too."
  • "Very reasonably priced for the portion sizes you get, I have a very large appetite - at Persepolis is one of two places where I haven't been able to finish my meal."
  • "The bill came to 30£ for the two of us, and it was really good value."
  • "The food is mindblowing, the prices are decent."
  • "Everything here tastes absolutely mind blowing, and all at an affordable price."

Cons:

  • "Their card minimum is £10!! I only needed something for £4 and even though I’d been waiting for 30 mins outside, they weren’t flexible so I ended up not buying anything and wasting my time."
  • "However, I personally found the tasting menu bit expensive (20 quid plus SC) as per the setup/ambience."
  • "Prices are twice the amount of that at other stores and supermarkets."
  • "Must say its quite expensive for what you get... for 20pounds pp you get 5 main courses but the portions are small and de food feels like its ‘easily’ prepared."
  • "Very over priced."
  • "The prices must have gone up recently because the meze platter (which is not big at all) was £8.50 and the other dishes were similar prices."
  • "Also, the hygiene levels could have been better as dishes were chipped and glasses weren't the cleanest!"
