Atmosphere & Ambience

  • "Relaxed, friendly atmosphere."
  • "It's a trendy but casual place with a great choice of beer!"
  • "Stumbled across this place whilst in buxton. what a fabulous pub. amazing selection of beer. really nice atmosphere and there was a singer/pianist on later in the evening which really added to the place and made us end up spending the whole night there."

Cons:

  • "Only minor criticism is that the venue just feels a little sterile."
  • "It was pretty cold and soulless on a Sunday lunchtime."
  • "Walked in on bank holiday and before I had asked for anything I was told there were no tables, I only wanted a pint wasn't planning to eat. Just found it a bit rude."
  • "Seemed ok inside but serve cloudy pints on cask. Completely avoidable and irresponsible."

Service

Pros:

  • "Friendly service from the bar man."
  • "Staff smiley and helpful. Venue clean and spacious."
  • "Great friendly staff and great food highly recommend."
  • "Service was friendly and quick and the bar has a great atmosphere."
  • "Everything is clean and tidy, plus the staff are quick, efficient and friendly."
  • "The staff was really friendly."
  • "Lovely friendly atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff."

Cons:

  • "Only thing was the service. Some staff were friendly and others didn’t seem like they wanted to be there."
  • "A bit disappointing. Staff were confused over pre orders they had requested."
  • "Didn't seem that busy but took a while to get served."
  • "The service was underwhelming. We were a group of 11 eating and drinking quite a bit. We had reservations for 8pm. We finished our mains and after a pause wanted to order puddings. It was 9:05 and the waitress said that the kitchen closed at 9!"
  • "Called in on the off chance for a pint at 5 pm. Told we could only sit outside and someone would be out to take our order. After a not too inconsiderable while a young lady turned up and having spent 10 minutes generally chit chatting to two women finally came to us when catching her attention. Ten minutes later at 5.30 our drinks turned up. Poor show all round I would say and ruined the experience of trying a new craft beer."

Food & Drink

Pros:

  • "The food is also fantastic and well priced."
  • "There was a fantastic range of beers. It was great to be able to buy in a range of sizes to allow you to try a range."
  • "Great selection of beer and gins and tonics - know my husband loves their beer and I was happy to have a selection of gins to try over our 3 visits in 3 days."
  • "Great selection of food on offer...reasonably priced and good portions."
  • "Brisket burger was top notch, and the beer is quality."
  • "The food was delicious interior lovely but most importantly for me they did Marlborough wine where businesses near to them did basic choices of wine."
  • "The nachos and chocolate brownie went down a treat too!"

Cons:

  • "A bit disappointing. Staff were confused over pre orders they had requested and choice was fairly limited with most foods being of the burger variety or other unhealthy items."
  • "Beers can be too cold out the taps to let the malts and hops shine as they should."
  • "Food was ok, but did feel the portions and range didn't match the strength of beer selection."
  • "Very limited choice of food with flavours that don’t go together very well."
  • "Went here today paid £9.95 for fish on bread and chips. Well they were macdanalds chips only mackdonalds are better and the fish was really small on a piece of toasted bread."
  • "The vegetarian nachos were a big disappointment."
  • "Food was a bit of a disappointment as my veggie burger and halloumi were undercooked and only slightly warm compared to super hot fries!"

Value

Pros:

  • "Great selection of food on offer...reasonably priced and good portions. Tasty and inventive."
  • "Prices for food and drink are really reasonable too given the quality you get from both."
  • "Two meals and drinks came to about £30 so good value."
  • "Beer was great and very reasonably priced!"
  • "10% off takeaway cans when get get more than 5 making them a really good price."

Cons:

  • "Generally okay but the fact they charged us £9.95 for one bottle of beer and didn't warn us when we ordered it that it was more than twice the price of our other drinks, bumping the final bill by a tenner."
  • "I only question the price of a third, for instance Billionaires pint £6, a third £4. Would have been 5 stars if the thirds were a bit more reasonably priced."
  • "Beer very over priced and nothing special."
