Cons:

  • "Very poor, food under cooked."
  • "Chips not cooked, chicken dry."
  • "Sadly the food wasn't anything special."
  • "The prawn and crab linguine was also tasteless and only had 1 prawn in it."
  • "Food is a rip off for the quality. Veggie ‘Thai’ curry was pieces of very watery (obviously microwaved) squash in a tomato sauce."
  • "The food was really not good; the duck, mixed with cooked onions and peppers came out in a little bowl which had clearly just been blasted in the microwave."

Service

Pros:

  • "Waiting Staff were very friendly, very efficient and you can't ask for more than that."
  • "The staff were all friendly & prices were reasonable."

  • "Very good service, staff very pleasant."
  • "Staff very friendly and attentive."

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately our table received really poor service."
  • "lovely location overlooking the bay and apparently great food however we wouldn't know what it tasted like as my gf and myself decided to leave after waiting for more than 30 minutes to asked what we wanted or even acknowledged despite speaking with one of the table staff as well as the manager who was possibly the rudest person I have encountered in any restaurant."
  • "We had to ask to have our order to be taken four times!"
  • "Service is very slow here, but the food was okay both times we came here, I wanted to wait for our second visit before leaving a review… such a shame the service isn’t great … so be warned, if you're happy to wait around to be served…"
  • "The service was terrible with staff ignoring customers and tables waiting to be served for nearly 20 minutes."
  • "We had to wait 1hour to be served as they lost our order."
  • "Waited ten minutes at the ice cream kiosk and no show of any staff."

Atmosphere & Location

Pros:

  • "Absolutely amazing interior and location."
  • "The boathouse is somewhere that it doesn't matter what time of year, night, day, summer or winter, it is fantastic whenever you visit."
  • "Feels relaxed and friendly inside so perfect for a nice relaxed meal."
  • "The views out of the front of The Boat House are very impressive too, with great opportunities to see the sunsets."
  • "What a lovely place. Perfect location right next to the bay."
  • "Lovely ambiance. Patio outside is really nice in the sunshine. Inside also tastefully decorated."
  • "A charming restaurant overlooking Red Wharf Bay with breathtaking views across the bay and of course Snowdonia."

Cons:

  • "A beautiful location and average food but completely spoilt by the horrendously rude attitude and lack of attention of staff."
  • "I was duped into visiting here because of the promise of views over a beautiful bay. There is a bay, and there are views, but not from anywhere in the restaurant."
  • "To not cater for people with a dairy intolerance is not really caring for your customers in my mind."
  • "As there were so many of us we were put in a back room on our own, which was OK but we felt a bit 'out of it'."
  • "Not very happy, won't go again. We had a table booked for 6 of us and 3 dogs. Another dog barked at one of ours and of course one of ours replied. My daughter was then told in no uncertain manor to keep our dogs under control if we wanted to stay."
  • "The fish pie was,2 chewy prawns- again obviously microwaved to the max. And a few tiny cubes of fish."
  • "We were then directed to find our own table outside ‘if there was one’."
