Amenities and Facilities

Pros:

  • "For the children there are lots of organised events as well as an area to pet pigs, dogs, alpacas and small horses."
  • "Great amenities for kids."
  • "The beach is within walking distance (even for small children)."
  • "Great facilities, clean composting toilets, solar showers which are always got and clean. Shops on site including food and coffee."
  • "The facilities are good. Multiple blocks of showers...ranging from heated(gas), solar and outside showers."
  • "Camping doesn't get any better. Great facilities based on an eco nature (compost toilets, solar heated water etc...) along with local organic produce, lots of activities on site and its own private beach."
  • "Every field has several toilets, two dish washing places with hot water, tap with drinking water."

Cons:

  • "The toilets were disgusting and stunk."
  • "But the toilets are Awful!! We were lucky enough to have flushing toilets in our field, but there was a constant queue - and they stunk."
  • "Facilities were fairly basic."
  • "Toilets unhygienic."
  • "Toilets are big issue, my daughter was scared to fall in it, and she hated to go to the toilet (even though she has a medical condition)."
  • "Flushing toilets fresh and showers fresh, compost toilets at times unbearable and unusable."
  • "The small pebble beach is not somewhere I would want to spend the day as the steep steps up and down would become quite tiring if kids needs the toilet."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Staff are all lovely."
  • "Staff were friendly and helpful."
  • "Thank you to lovely Emma for her great customer service this morning, giving me a lift to the top of the hill to catch my taxi before she started work - what a star!"
  • "Staff are all so hard working, friendly and polite."
  • "Found staff super helpful and friendly 😊"
  • "The staff on the most part is uni types on their summer holidays and all that I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful."
  • "All the staff are great."

Cons:

  • "Also one of the owners, Wendy, was very rude."
  • "The staff are seasonal so must have limited training as none of them seemed to know who was doing what."
  • "The only reason this wasn’t 5 out of 5 stars is the younger members of the site staff weren’t very helpful or polite."
  • "Many of the staff didn't know or couldn't understand us."
  • "One star lost for the appalling service from miserable girl serving in the beer tent."

Value and Pricing

Pros:

  • "The site is clean, the shop and the food is not overpriced considering you are onsite."
  • "Beer tent, so many great food places to choose from on site at reasonable prices, with the best fresh pastries for breakfast."
  • "Bakery and onsite food outlets good price and selections especially the Bakery."
  • "Firewood is available and reasonable with large bags (enough for one night) at only Β£3.50 each."
  • "The thing I was most surprised by was the prices of food etc, I feel like being trapped in a campsite they could really take advantage and raise the costs but I found them quite reasonable."
  • "The food court was good although we only ate ice cream!!"
  • "Organic bakery does gorgeous croissants for breakfast."

Cons:

  • "The new on-site restaurant is fab although 6 adults and 6 kids was Β£700 so quite punchy!"
  • "Just a warning though, if you don't plan on cooking your own food here, then the food they sell at the campsite is very expensive."
  • "Personally found the farm shop was massively overpriced for the quality and selection."
  • "The shops were expensive and understaffed, the eateries were above the odds."
  • "Bought some sweet potato fries for Β£3.50. Literally 17 fries in that box. Total rip off. Mediocre quality."
  • "Absolute rip off! 3 nights for a family Β£330 pounds they wanted!"
  • "Expensive but worth it!"

Experience and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Great fun for all the family."
  • "Fantastic Campsite, amazing relaxed atmosphere. Almost like you're at a festival."
  • "Essentially a festival without the music, rammed full of families with children."
  • "Just an amazing, fun, relaxing, gorgeous place to be."
  • "If you are looking for a campsite, reasonably priced with a great location and want a campfire I would recommend 100%."
  • "Absolutely brilliant camp site. This is our 9th year going and it gets better every year!"
  • "Pretty hard to beat - unless you're allergic to free range children (and the outdoors)."

Cons:

  • "The only plus was the fantastic view but with too many tents in the beach field it spoilt it."
  • "This beautiful farm and beach is being spoiled by the plastic toys and non-biodegradable slime/putty they sell in the shop."
  • "Used to be great, but it's far too crowded now."
  • "The atmosphere on the site is like a festival without music, with tents pitched in random positions jostling for space."
  • "It does get pretty busy and in my opinion they let too many on site."
  • "I feel like the site is a good analogy on life right now, people don't think about others just themselves so sadly we will not return due to the noise mostly."
  • "The contrast to last year is huge. I doubt we will be back again."

Security and Safety

Pros:

  • "The security woman couldn't have been better. She called the paramedic and was the perfect combination of completely calm, efficient and also warm and eager to help in any way."
  • "This year's highlight was the addition of ladders to the 2 pontoons that you can swim out to on the private beach which made getting onto them much easier especially with the kids."

Cons:

  • "Had my clothes bag stolen from my tent this afternoon. Be vigilant for thieves."
  • "Was attacked and bitten by a dog from approx 100 yards away in my gazebo. Security turned on me and suddenly claimed I was at fault??????"
  • "Another person was bitten by a grey staffy yesterday."
