Ambience

Pros:

  • "A really nice dining experience."
  • "The ambience was lovely and good service."
  • "La Perla is in such a unique setting, you go down a wrought iron staircase to what I thought was going to be the basement of a Georgian house but the restaurant is actually under the ground between the buildings, a cavern!"
  • "It has a lovely ambience and nicely lit underground."
  • "The atmosphere is cosy and the location is fab - right by Pulteney Bridge."

Cons:

  • "Not suitable for infirm or disabled diners."
  • "Food is average, ambiance is dim and not to the romantic side."
  • "Tables are really close together and if you have a big group next to you then it's very noisy (not ideal for a romantic and quiet meal)."
  • "Moreover, the atmosphere was very crowded; no music and very loud kitchen and guests."
  • "Music was very quiet atmosphere felt I was in a dungeon rather than a classy restaurant."
  • "Ambience had the chance to be special with the whole underground thing but the gaudy lighting, peeling seat cushions, and nails sticking out of the woodwork left a lot to be desired."
  • "The 'signature dish' of theirs, paella of the day is the worst paella I’ve ever eat."

Value

Pros:

  • "One of my top meals in 2023."

Cons:

  • "I was then charged £50 to my account without a response."
  • "Ended paying £40 a person and did not feel full by the end."
  • "It’s tapas but about £8-£12 a plate which is extortionate for the size."
  • "A bit pricey but you get what you pay for."
  • "Food was nice bit expensive for what it is but it was nice."
  • "Expensive for Tapas but we'll worth it."
  • "Expensive & over-salted, avoid."
