Atmosphere and Ambience

Pros:

  • "From the moment you step through the front door you are welcomed warmly as if meeting old friends, and the restaurant is small enough to feel quite intimate."
  • "The atmosphere was exceptional! Will be back here when I'm in Brighton next time!"
  • "Welcoming atmosphere, really friendly service from our waiter, as well as the owner of the restaurant."
  • "The atmosphere also really made it for us, really felt like we'd found a gem in the city."
  • "The atmosphere is impeccable, the staff is super friendly."
  • "We had a 20 minute walk to build up a good appetite. The food, service and hospitality was outstanding."
  • "The atmosphere and feel of the place was intimate meaning service was attentive."
  • "A fantastic meal for two in Baqueano. Every detail was looked after and the food was all incredible."

Cons:

  • "This would normally not be a problem, however the restaurant is small so we were basically waiting in the middle of the room intruding on other diner’s evenings."

Service Quality

Pros:

  • "The service was absolutely spot on. The right level of attention and humour, and knowledge of the wine and dishes."
  • "The service was amazing - everything was well explained and we were well looked after despite how busy it was."
  • "The service and wine list are exceptional."
  • "The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Even remembering it was my other half a birthday from an email."
  • "Staff were so friendly and welcoming and food was simply outstanding!"

Cons:

  • "Service: The service was friendly and attentive, but it could be improved. We were unceremoniously told to leave midway through our final drinks to have the table back, even though there were other empty tables available."
  • "Instead of accepting the order we were left to sit for a further 10 minutes with our menus. Getting hungrier by the minute!"
  • "The only thing what a missed is the restaurant itself. But all that was quickly forgotten as soon as the feast began... Couldn't asked for a better tasting experience for a special occasion such as our anniversary."

Food Quality and Taste

Pros:

  • "The steak was incredible, everything about the meal was perfect. It’s surprisingly rare to find a restaurant that cooks a steak so well and exactly to your preference."
  • "Steak was fantastic, cooked to perfection, as were the chorizos. The empanadas we had as a starter were nicely baked and full of flavour."
  • "One of the best if not the best steakhouses I have ever been to. Excellent customer service, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and exquisite chargrilled steaks."
  • "The best steak I've had ever. Given the past reviews, I decided to have el trio (sausages &black pudding). They were juicy and full of flavour."
  • "The food was next level - seriously amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough and big thank you to Cynthia and the gang for looking after us and giving us recommendations."

Cons:

  • "Food was delicious but our barbecue specialities were ordered medium-rare and delivered at the table medium-well. That's not what I would expect from such a restaurant."
  • "The only Caveat Emptor I would state (let the buyer beware) is that the tasting menu wine allotment was way too small for our liking.. and unlike previous tasting experiences we have had; top ups were not part of the experience, instead charged at full price (in this instance £26 a glass!!)"
  • "Biggest let-down were the chips, steakhouses should never offer frozen cardboard fries. Desert was another disappointment, especially the rum ice cream. Very expensive, tiny, too much rum and it wasn't even set, it was runny."
  • "Crepes weren't great either. As a final plus though, they didn't add service charge, which is always appreciated."
