  • "This place is simply awesome! Most of my life I've driven past St Andrew's Lake wondering what it would be like to swim in the beautiful blue water and to be honest, I am still wondering... Then why am I writing a review with 5*s I hear you say to your screen? The answer is simple. My son's Scout Group went here for a session and every single child and Leader had a fantastic time. Before you can go in the water you must don a safety vest and, if you want, you can hire a wetsuit for a small amount (I'm told the water is 'slightly chilly'!). You are then given a mandatory health and safety briefing which includes everyone wanting to swim, not just large groups of Scouts. After making your way to the beach area it's about a 20 metre swim to the play area. I must point out here that the adults were the first to state the temperature of the water... The kids? Zoom! They were in and making their way to fun with only a couple taking it easy. You get about 50 minutes for the session which I think is plenty when the water temperature and sheer exertion of climbing the inflatables, jumpng off and repeating is taken into consideration. Not to mention the huge swing in the middle you can get as high as you can (or want to) and jump into the depths, the lake being over 30 metres deep. The inflatable isn't the only activity that can be undertaken here. There's paddle boarding, rowing/kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, pedalo's (cute), or just good old open water swimming all with the knowledge that a lifeguard is never too far away. If none of this floats your boat (pun intended) there's a reasonably priced cafe on site where you can chill and soak up the fantastic atmosphere and surroundings."
