Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was amazing 😋 I had the nachos which were delicious and my little one loved the mac and cheeze."
  • "We had their Sunday roast (it is a nut roast) and it was amazing!! Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly."
  • "Absolutely some of the best vegan food. We had the salad bowls (Rainbow and Greek) and the incredible scotch 'egg'."
  • "Unbelievable, blown away by the quality the flavour and the quantity I had the rainbow bowl and some sweet pot fries and I was full."
  • "I'm vegetarian rather than vegan, but the Cosmic Kitchen's menu contained a really good selection of choices."
  • "The best vegan restaurant around! The staff were extremely accommodating and help to provide gluten free alternatives."
  • "The food is delicious and 100% vegan to make it even better. The place looks great and the people I was with can't stop raving about their food."
  • "Amazing food - decent portion sizes and bursting with flavour. We had the seitan wrap, garlicky fries and the nacho sharer."

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately, we were just visiting otherwise we would be back as regulars consistently."
  • "For the (at the time of writing) 2nd best restaurant in Plymouth, expectations were naturally going to be high. However to say my experience was underwhelming would be an understatement."
  • "My problem however was the food. The moussaka we had been served occupied less than half the plate and was bereft of any seasoning."
  • "The Nachos came with a melted vegan cheese. This might as well have been water, little to no flavour and if anything off-putting."
  • "The side salad that came with the moussaka was soaked in olive oil which was bitter in taste."
  • "Lovely venue but for Plymouth it is expensive and portions are mean. Whether eat-in or take-away, wraps are sold by the half wrap for £4.50."
  • "I can't comment on the food or service provided as we didn't get to dine. Having read the reviews online I decided to book in to here when visiting a friend in Plymouth."
  • "The olive bread I must accept was delicious and packed a punch in terms of flavour. The vegan scotch egg too was over-priced at £6.50 but was admittedly quite tasty."

Service Quality

Pros:

  • "We had a small lunch (soup of the day/hummus/bread) and it made us smile. Amazing service and super friendly staff."
  • "The staff were friendly and they even made gravy for us when we asked if we could have more!"
  • "An oasis of calm, nourishing food and great staff! I came here while on a day trip to Plymouth from London."
  • "What a place! A great venue, really helpful, friendly staff, and a diverse menu of amazing vegan food."
  • "Absolutely brilliant! Booked for 16 people for a birthday gathering - needed to pay a £10 per person deposit and have pre-orders which was absolutely fine!"
  • "Massive thanks for a great evening, and for keeping the kitchen open for us when we were delayed. We'll definitely be coming back whenever we pass this way in future."
  • "The staff were friendly, very attentive and helpful. Not being a vegetarian or vegan myself I found the food of average standard."
  • "My carnivorous wife's jackfruit wrap was filling and very much enjoyed. The brownie and dairy-free ice cream was delicious, as was the oat milk latte. All the staff were welcoming and very friendly."

Cons:

  • "Only negative I could say is they automatically add a service charge/tip then say you don’t have to pay it if you don’t like however it’s already added into the bill so to ask for them to remove it is definitely a bit awkward."
  • "We ate at cosmic tonight as a group of 9. Not only was the food and drinks amazing but that service was brilliant too! 8 of our group wasn’t vegan and still thoroughly enjoyed the food."
  • "However we were disappointed to see that they allowed dogs inside the restaurant. My mother is scared of dogs and how do they guarantee that they aren’t going to bark which is distracting when you’re trying to have a conversation."
  • "Came in and waited to be seated. The place was not at all busy with plenty of empty tables. Was acknowledged by two waitstaff who told me they would be with me in a second."
  • "One continued conversation with her coworker whilst I just stood waiting over 5 minutes. Gobsmacked at such poor service."
  • "I went to this place by chance. I was in Plymouth on a Monday night because of a work related course and I wanted something healthy."
  • "So lovely. None of the photos do the food or decor justice. The rainbow bowl was one of the best meals I’ve eaten - speaking as an omnivore. And the service is kind, relaxed and unobtrusive."
  • "The service with a smile is something that I always appreciate. The venue is quirky and I really like it. It seems like a former church that was regenerated in a restaurant."

Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "The decor in the restaurant is really lovely, and I can imagine their outdoor courtyard will be a fantastic place to hang when the weather is good. They also have live music at night."
  • "The building has a high wooden ceiling, you can see the beams. The windows are stained glass. So a wonderful place to be on a hot day - slightly dark, and cool from the air circulation."
  • "I moved inside to the old church building and they’ve done the interior really well, they have speakers set up so looks like a proper jive in the evenings!"
  • "What a beautiful restaurant from the interior design to the outside court yard. The staff here were so friendly and the food amazing."
  • "Went to Cosmic Kitchen last night for their Jelly Jazz evening. Danced the night away to some kick arse tunes. People of all ages enjoying themselves. Great venue, lovely staff all lead to an amazing atmosphere."
  • "The restaurant setting is very church style looking with high vaulted ceilings."
  • "Cosy atmosphere in a converted chapel. Vegan restaurant with great choice of foods at reasonable prices."
  • "Quite genuinely one of the coolest places I've ever eaten at. Former church turned vegan food/club/pub/chillout space. Wicked aesthetic, lovely staff and banging vegan food."

Cons:

  • "The room turned into an old school disco with a good fun vibe. All in all what a great place."
  • "Hot dang I love this place, but really feel like they would benefit from investing in a better sound system. No bass , or much texture at all, the DJs are banging , but the rigs don't do them any justice."
  • "The music selection is spot on (Phoebe Bridgers while you're eating??? You get depressed from the tunes but lifted back up with how nice the food is)."
  • "Full review with pictures on their Facebook page... Fantastic food and great atmosphere going through the front door is a bit misleading but just go upstairs! It’s it completely different world 👌 Awesome atmosphere, quirky place and fantastic food 🥘"
  • "I went here partly out of curiosity and partly on a scouting mission. I am not vegetarian or vegan but the food was fantastic. The flavours really were exceptional."
  • "Great mid afternoon visit. The building is beautiful and the interior decor and fixtures really sat well within it."
  • "An hidden gem the Cosmic Kitchen was once the Mission in Lower Lane adjacent to Kittys Bar central Plymouth."
  • "Beautiful and relaxing : the staff were tentative and friendly and I left feeling relaxed on what had been w very stressful day!"
