Location and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Cozy and friendly little spot at walk distance from the station."
  • "Nice location and atmosphere and caring service."
  • "The restaurant's location is also worth mentioning, as it is located in a quiet corner of a shopping street."
  • "Great spot in the heart of Glasgow, fantastic food and coffee, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is really cozy."
  • "Perfect place to grab breakfast between Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen stations, whether you're coming to or departing from the city."
  • "Set in a prime location, and with all the best ideas, this cafe could become a vegan mainstay for a quick lunch or city centre breakfast."
  • "A lovely little cafe where we had breakfast before heading home on the train."
  • "This little lovely vegan cafe has so much to offer and everything looks so delicious! Staff is very kind and friendly."

Cons:

  • "No bathroom available on the premises."
  • "The place is really small but luckily wasn't busy, so I had no problem finding a seat."
  • "We walked here and popped our heads in and it looked busy with no fee tables to sit at, it was raining so couldn't sit outside."
  • "The restaurant is very small and crowded, with only three inside tables (two of which were reserved when we got there midday) and four outside, so unless you reserve ahead, you'll probably struggle to get a seat. They also have no toilet facilities."
  • "It was probably about 15 minutes of waiting to just receive a menu and another 15 to get the bill, having asked two different people. We were also sat on a table outside right in front of the kitchen's hot extractor fan which was pretty uncomfortable on a hot day. The lack of toilets is also pretty unacceptable."
  • "-one star for the strong smell of fat in the restaurant. I would probably prefer to eat out next time:)"

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Their treat was one of the best things I have ever eaten."
  • "Very impressed with the flavour and quality of everything on the plate."
  • "The black pudding, in particular, stood out for its flavor and texture."
  • "I had the "Death by Chocolate" dish, which consisted of crepes in a generous amount of chocolate sauce."
  • "The food was good (sandwich with haggis, cheese, onions - a bit dry - and a soup - could use some spices)."
  • "The vegan alternatives to haggis, black pudding and sausage were gorgeous and left me wanting more."
  • "I had cheese & mushroom pancake and was very happy about that."
  • "The food was delicious and tasty and the staff were attentive. We visited twice during our stay as we enjoyed it so much."

Cons:

  • "I’ve been a vegan for 10 years and this was the worst vegan food I’ve ever had."
  • "Food was okay. Ordering Nachos and than getting some that look so storeboard that I could easily re-create the dish at home is always a bit disappointing."
  • "The Glasvegan is one of those places where non-vegan people go to give a try to vegan food to then never try it again."
  • "We had breakfast there this morning. While it was delicious it was the staff that made the experience 5 stars."
  • "I don’t understand the overall positive reviews, because it’s just not very good. An attempt to make vegan food look as non-vegan dishes at the cost of taste."
  • "Very mediocre, uninspired vegan junk food, with little emphasis on fresh, healthy ingredients or presentation."
  • "Incredibly disappointed. Ordered two coffees, a vegan chicken foccaccia, and a slice of cake."
  • "I had a mex dog which included a looot of chezzzze. It was really heavy so if you are hungry and looking for something filling you for a long time this is a good choice."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are super friendly, welcoming and well deserving of the Restaurant Awards they've accomplished."
  • "Recommend that vegans and non-vegans alike should try this awesome food! The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive."
  • "The staff were friendly, the place is small but warm and cosy, the food was fantastic."
  • "The service at The Glasvegan was attentive and friendly."
  • "Really friendly guys working there! Definitely recommend this cafe for vegans living or visiting Glasgow!"
  • "The lad who took my order as well was a really funny lad who was really friendly."
  • "Fantastic food & lovely friendly staff!"
  • "Service was great! For me, the food didn't have good balance."

Cons:

  • "The service was great though the music was a bit loud and consisted of covers that kind of ruined the vibe."
  • "Unfortunately the staff were fairly unattentive and took an uncomfortable amount of time to get us drinks from a fridge close by, and food was slow too."
  • "Food was okay. Ordering Nachos and than getting some that look so storeboard that I could easily re-create the dish at home is always a bit disappointing."
  • "Our food took at lease 40 minutes to arrive even after prompting."
  • "I dint like the staff behaviour. When asked for a glass of water and tissue the staff didn't come back."
  • "The lack of toilets is also pretty unacceptable."
  • "It was probably about 15 minutes of waiting to just receive a menu and another 15 to get the bill, having asked two different people."
  • "Waited for over an hour for some wraps, the staff were friendly but it got to the point were we were asking several times for our food."
