Food Quality and Taste

Pros:

  • "Absolutely incredible food & service! Even if you are hesitant about Vegan food, please try this place - none of my family are vegan and it was some of the best restaurant food we have ever had."
  • "Fancy a beer wine and a great burger? Eat here, it’ll be the best burger you’ve ever had, nourishing and delicious."
  • "I have genuinely never had better vegan food anywhere else."
  • "Their food was so good. I had the Dahl and it was so flavourful and presented beautifully!"
  • "I’m not a vegan (I love meat) but I loved the food here. I had a healthy summer bowl, and they managed to make the tofu taste great."

Cons:

  • "The babaganoush (eggplant with tortillas) was a fail. My Lebanese identity was insulted by this version of babaganoush. The taste was very pale, watery."
  • "Food was crazy crazy expensive for what it was. Service was ok but forgot some or my order and apparently the cheesecake was the best dessert one on the menu... it was awful."
  • "The food is okay but nothing to write home about, and overpriced for what it is."
  • "The food was ok. But experience overall quite poor. Ordered quite a substantial amount of food and a can of beer each and notified the waitress (which she wrote down and said OK) of my nut allergy.. which is severe.. (Too much and I’m dead) and one of the dishes I ordered apparently contained cashews (also not notified on the menu anywhere, and is an allergen)."
  • "The £17 plate of pasta my husband had was some pasta, bits of pasta tomato and very little flavour….definitely overpriced."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "Devi and Jamie were also such wonderful attentive waiters who clearly cared about the restaurant and food."
  • "Everyone very friendly and helpful 5⭐️"
  • "Our waitress, Emily, was very helpful and helped us choose what we wanted off the menu, explaining what everything was as well as giving personal recommendations."
  • "The staff are so lovely too and just a brilliant place!"
  • "Massive shout out to Jamie who always greets us with a smile, always looks after us and makes us feel right at home."

Cons:

  • "Sadly the same can’t be said for my second visit. We waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and had to ask for a second time where our drinks were upon the food arriving to our table."
  • "Asking multiple times for the bill and card machine is also less than ideal. 12.5% service charge was added to our bill, which we subsequently didn’t pay due to awfully slow service."
  • "Service was great though, lovely staff but we left feeling flat after being so excited about our meal."
  • "Waited ages to be served then had to ask multiple times for water glasses, napkins, sauces... Each time we asked, the server would say they'd get it, and then we'd just not see them again."
  • "Avoid. Absolutely horrible experience here. I have never been so disrespected in my life. The acting manager, Jamie B, was derogatory to my friends and I, and tried every excuse in the book to usher us out (despite the restaurant being empty)."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The price is reasonable as we ended up very full."
  • "Had a cocktail, coffee and dessert and the bill was £41 with tip."
  • "Loads of food for the money, the portions were big!"
  • "Really nice décor and ambience too. Nothing to complain about, will 100% be returning."
  • "Delicious food but slow service. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday afternoon but it took a long time to get a menu and order/receive our drinks. The waiter was very apologetic though."

Cons:

  • "The main issue is the price. The average price for a burger is £18, and that's without a side."
  • "We ended up spending nearly £60 for two soft drinks, two burgers and a chips to share."
  • "Prices are a little high. I’m happy to a bit extra for the jazz band entertainment though."
  • "Food was delicious. Our waitress, Emily, was very helpful and helped us choose what we wanted off the menu, explaining what everything was as well as giving personal recommendations."
  • "The bill was also very disappointing: 3 coffees, £18! You'll be charged £1.5 each to sit without tablecloth on an outside table with a small glass of water."

Ambience and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The place is really cute inside and the staff was very nice all along the dinner."
  • "I went here for my birthday and it was honestly beautiful!! From the beautiful food to the beautiful service I couldn't have asked for anything better!"
  • "Rocked up on a sunny Sunday, seated outside as Northcoate is pedestrianised for spring/summer. They had a fantastic jazz band playing on Sundays for the restaurant as well, which sealed the deal and gave a lot of appeal."
  • "Great breakfast/brunch vegan spot for anyone looking to start off their day with some lovely food."
  • "Delicious plant-based food, warm welcoming service and baby friendly."

Cons:

  • "The only slight negative (and I’m really nit-picking here) is that the lights above the tables are very low. I imagine anyone taller than 4 feet is at risk of hitting their head on them."
  • "We were sat for 1.5 hours and the restaurant quickly filled making already slow service even slower. It was a joke."
  • "Unfortunately quite expensive. £5 for a side of plaintain which would be super reasonable if you went to a Caribbean restaurant instead."
  • "The outdoor seating needs to be improved, there was no walkway from the street to the restaurant so people kept constantly pushing my chair to get past which was quite annoying."
  • "We were also extremely close to the other tables, just felt very crowded and uncomfortable."
