Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The dirty burger was really good as was the plant burger. Onion rings were well cooked and not oily or stringy."
  • "Amazing experience. Food was wonderful I had the battered halloumi with chips and it was amazing."
  • "The food is excellent, not cheap but very good."
  • "Really lovely food! I had the wagyu burger and my friends both had the pork belly with scallops, well presented and tasty!"
  • "Both meals were amazing, really tasty and well presented!"
  • "The food was sublime and cooked to perfection!"
  • "The food was amazing and there was plenty to choose from on the kids menu for my little one."

Cons:

  • "We went to the Tudor rose for a Sunday roast and it was extremely disappointing. We got a small amount of meat (ridiculous for the price) and the roast potatoes were really hard, the cabbage looked old and the vegetables were tasteless."
  • "We went there on Sunday and ordered Sunday roasts, first the food was cold and almost uneatable.. the roasted potatoes were pieces of rock!"
  • "The roast chicken was good but the fish and chips were a huge let down."
  • "Food quality could be significantly improved - the apple crumble didn’t taste fresh and the chicken roast was huge in portion but bland in flavor."
  • "Cod from the fish and chips was in a flaccid batter and the twice cooked chips were semi hard inside and soft at the edges."
  • "The brownie I had for dessert also tasted like it had come out of a microwave - do not recommend the food at all."
  • "Easily the worst roast I’ve ever eaten."

Service

Pros:

  • "Harry who was an absolute dream! Very professional, friendly and the service was super fast!"
  • "The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Great hospitality skills!"
  • "Attentive waiting staff, reasonably priced."
  • "Kaya was an absolute pleasure to have as our Waitress today. She was very helpful, chatty and very friendly!"
  • "Louis, our waiter, was great. I have a number of allergies along with Coeliac and he gave me all the information and assurance I needed to feel confident in eating there."
  • "Olivia, our waitress, really excelled herself, couldn't do enough, polite, friendly, helpful, and always with a smile."
  • "The team did a great job looking after us and getting our food out swiftly, I was really impressed."

Cons:

  • "Service was quite good while we were served by the waitress, but when her shift ended we were then served by a tall young lad, the service became non existent."
  • "Slow service even though practically empty."
  • "Service however was shocking. I had an engagement party booked for two months... On the day I turned up to find people starting to sit in my area I had booked out and refusing to move as there was no reserved signs out."
  • "Really good food but the restaurant was exceptionally noisy and service was slower than Expected."
  • "Slow service and wasn't even busy."
  • "Booked the restaurant and the Service was extremely slow."
  • "The service for drinks was painfully slow."

Ambiance and Decor

Pros:

  • "The restaurant looked so fresh and inviting, love the new look."
  • "The venue has been recently refurbished and updated to a good standard and have a covered outdoor area which was really lively."
  • "The atmosphere was very cosy yet not loud or crowded."
  • "The pub is very beautiful inside and out and located conveniently opposite to a park ideal for children and dog walkers."
  • "The atmosphere was also really nice. The flowers on the tables were real instead of dusty plastic ones like I usually see in pubs."
  • "What a FAB place, the new decor is amazing, classy and trendy."
  • "The atmosphere was very relaxed and was Lovely to see children of all ages running in and out into the child friendly garden."

Cons:

  • "There are French doors leading from the back of the main bar drinking area to the garden. These are extremely draughty and the pub never seems warm enough in the winter months."
  • "Restaurant empty, no atmosphere and cold with AC unit blasting out above our table."
  • "Before Christmas they hire out chunks of the drinking part of the Tudor Rose to private parties. So you go there as usual on a Friday night and find the area you normally (loyally even) sit and drink in has been cordoned off and you have to go somewhere or stand up."
  • "Unfortunately we went in for a quiet drink and got the tail end of a christening party. Children running around shouting and screaming. No where to sit. Not really what you want on a Saturday evening."
  • "Oof, not great I'm afraid. Interior styling by DFS, Harvey's and Oak Furniture Land."
  • "The walls and floors are filthy - especially by the window on the left of the restaurant - it looks as if a food fight and a bottle of coke went off in there!"
  • "The tudor rose pub looks lovely but the service here is diabolical it is slow."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Child friendly, with plenty of tasty options for the little ones too, and all at a reasonable price."
  • "We like the Tudor Rose. Good seated area as well as casual area at the other end of the pub."
  • "The food and drinks we ordered were delicious."
  • "Food and drink prices are not bad but the food is absolutely worth it."
  • "The prices are very reasonable… We had a wonderful waiter by the name of Holly!"
  • "We have paid a lot more for much less quality food and it was probably one of the best bits of steak I have ever had."
  • "Service was slightly slow .....however three of our party were 30 mins late due to traffic hold up on M25......so we missed our dining slot ...and staff were very accomodating...deserts are very sweet ...prices are very competitive...."

Cons:

  • "We went to the Tudor rose for a Sunday roast and it was extremely disappointing. We got a small amount of meat (ridiculous for the price) and the roast potatoes were really hard, the cabbage looked old and the vegetables were tasteless."
  • "Came to this pub for dinner after first visiting their sister pub 'Rambler's Rest' where were refused because they had no more food left at only 7pm and we even had a reservation booked."
  • "Came in with a booking on the 29/09/19. Staff were very nice. However, the prices were extortionate and I was very disappointed with the sad looking Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken Breast that was so small I finished it in 2 bites - £15.50 well spent."
  • "You can tell this pub has a monopoly in the area. I've eaten here twice as my friend is nearby and the food is good pub grub, however they are charging fine dining prices."
  • "Pricey for what you get."
  • "We waited over 1.5 hours for our mains 1 of our starters were missing 2 of our dinners ordered fish cakes which was suppose to come with salad but it came with a cheap garnish salad very boring n dry."
  • "Pudding time was the same scenario the wrong pudding came out initially but then got my chocolate brownie pudding with a small drizzle of custard for £8.50 which I thought was a rip off😳"

Facilities

Pros:

  • "Nice countryside pub with plenty of parking space, very nice food, a special mention goes to John for accommodating us during a busy lunchtime."
  • "Easy parking, nice covered area outside."
  • "Nice staff, decent food, will allow you to sit outside if you want to. Wheelchair accessible and clean throughout, including the toilets."
  • "They have parking just be aware you need to enter your registration once inside."
  • "There is a substantial restaurant on the side of the pub facing Coulsdon Road. The rest of the pub which is possibly a little less than 50% of the floor area is given over to drinkers. There is a large car park and a large garden."
