Food Quality and Variety

Pros:

  • "Absolutely delicious! I had the roast celeriac roll and my husband had the seitan brisket."
  • "Everything on the plate was well cooked. Great selection of drinks on tap."
  • "The sesame chilli tofu MELTED in my mouth."
  • "Vegan beef roast dinner was absolutely unreal and we left feeling nice and full."
  • "Had the cauliflower wings and the burger. My mum tried a vegan burger for the first time and she was blown away by the taste."
  • "We had the bbq cauliflower wings (out of this world) and the loaded fries (delicious)."
  • "The plates are designed for sharing but are not served with sharing spoons."
  • "Sunday lunch food was pretty good with some great flavours ... Beetroot puree and the celeriac hazelnut roll were especially good."
  • "We had the burger and the people I was with had the Gyros. Would definitely visit again - I've heard they do an amazing Sunday roast!"

Cons:

  • "Portions are definitely smaller than they used to be!"
  • "Unfortunately some of the veg was too stringy and chewy to eat ... the broccoli and cabbage mainly."
  • "The only thing that could be improved; the outdoor seating could use a few more screws."
  • "The polenta portion also on the small side."
  • "The plates are designed for sharing but are not served with sharing spoons and in covid times I wasn’t happy we had to put our cutlery into the dishes."
  • "One of our group said the Seitan fake beef was very bland, too."
  • "Please please please get some blinds and fans! It was SO hot with the sun beaming in through all the glass, heating the room like a greenhouse."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "The service was impeccable. The coffee was ace."
  • "A lovely member of staff went above and beyond to get us a table indoors so we could comfortably enjoy our lovely roast dinners."
  • "My fiance and I were very happy with our meals and the great service provided by the friendly staff."
  • "Big shout out to our server (Maximilliane, I believe) who was the nicest and managed to squeeze as in before the kitchen closed."
  • "Staff were so friendly and polite. Will definitely return."
  • "We were originally booked for a table outside but it was chucking it down so we asked on the off chance whether there would be a possibility for a table indoors."
  • "The staff were very personable and helpful, and the pub itself was very beautiful."

Cons:

  • "We attempted to inquire about the allergen information of the food and were met with hostility and vague answers."
  • "Had a very poor experience here, were ignored by staff not given any service."
  • "Despite arriving early we weren't given a table at all and had to sit at the window despite there being plenty of tables free."
  • "After asking three times if our table was ready yet, we finally were allowed to move to one of the 6 free tables that had been free the whole time, only 30 minutes after our original booking time."
  • "In the span of two hours I've gone from raving about The Roundhill to recommending people avoid it."
  • "The worst part was when we were still eating our food, a waitress came over and asked if she could take away our gravy boat as they had run out of boats and another customer needed it!"

Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "Lovely atmosphere & friendly staff."
  • "The atmosphere was super cosy and it was nice and warm."
  • "Fine dining vegan food in the heart of Brighton."
  • "The atmosphere was really relaxed and decor was homely. Music was at right volume and you weren’t on top of other diners."
  • "The venue itself is really homely and makes for the perfect spot for any celebration."
  • "The interior is lovely with a lot of small details to it."
  • "The pub has been really nicely decorated."

Cons:

  • "It's a 20-25 min uphill walk from the seafront which nearly killed us."
  • "Our main problem was that we were seated outside and it rained! Inside was fully booked, and there were no tables for us, so we had to sit in a row on stools ... Not ideal for a birthday lunch!"
  • "One of our group said the Seitan fake beef was very bland, too."
  • "It was absolutely freezing cold there too !! we sat there wearing coats !! absolute joke !!!!"
  • "Service was adequate. Seating was reasonable although the table we were given was clearly designed for smaller individuals than myself as I could not actually get my legs under it."
  • "Had a nice roast dinner here amongst the pretty boho décor. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and great to see a gluten free option. Given the hype around the roasts I was expecting abit more though."
