Scenery and Natural Beauty

Pros:

  • "Its lush nature, its medieval houses arranged in order, its colorful flowers… I felt like I was traveling in a completely different time period."
  • "Stunning views and places to visit."
  • "As soon as I entered this picturesque area, I was greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors, with its quintessential honey-colored stone cottages, lush green countryside, and vibrant gardens."
  • "Stunning scenery and gorgeous walks through rolling hills. Picturesque buildings that look like they belong in a distant past before the age of the motor car."
  • "The Cotswold Edge is a 52 mile escarpment that runs alongside the River Severn valley sometimes reaching over 900 feet in height."
  • "Bibury is a charming typically Cotswold village, just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln."

Cons:

  • "The only problem is that it could get very busy at times so try to go when it is less busy so you enjoy it more and be able to snap pictures without people coming in the way :)"
  • "We walked on New Year's Day, which was one of the few dry days over the holiday period. The ground was saturated, turning the footpaths into bogs in some areas, so I would highly recommend good walking boots or even Wellington boots when wet."

Villages and Architecture

Pros:

  • "The houses are so real and very old. A place which has that vibe."
  • "Burton-on-the-water is a charming village located in the heart of the Cotswolds in England. The village is known for its picturesque setting on the River Windrush and its charming, historical buildings."
  • "This village is so beautiful, it does not even look like England, it makes you feel that you are somewhere else, so quiet and lovely medieval buildings."
  • "Cotswolds is pretty large for a short trip. Plan for at least few days and enjoy all the small villages like bibury, lower slaughter, upper slaughter etc."

Cons:

  • "Tourists were a bit noisy when we went but it was still beautiful."
  • "The road up to Cleve Hill is very bumpy in places, watch out for pot holes, narrow but there are plenty of passing points."
  • "Very pretty but expect to pay higher prices because of supply/demand and tourism."
  • "If you visit the Cotswolds I recommend to everyone you should go to Bourton on the Water as its the most amazing and stunning place there there's lots of things to do such as the motor museum model village and there's a lot of brilliant shops pubs and a cafe about the river is beautiful and charming with 5 bridges."

Activities and Attractions

Pros:

  • "From cozy pubs offering hearty, traditional fare to Michelin-starred restaurants showcasing innovative dishes, there was no shortage of options to tantalize my taste buds."
  • "The Cotswolds in general are great for walks, food and visiting plenty of lonely villages. Whether it is for a hike or a picnic with the family, there is plenty to see and do."
  • "Bourton on the water is the perfect cotswolds village. With the river running through its centre and the quaint little bridges across its so picturesque."
  • "There are so many things to see and do in the Cotswolds, from walking and hiking to visiting charming pubs and antique shops."

Cons:

  • "The cafeteria though does not have variety of foods but the small food stalls offers plenty of choices."
  • "Picturesque, some good viewing points, beautiful stone cottages, just make certain you bring plenty of £1, 50, 10 and 20p pieces as parking and toilets are all charged for!"
  • "We walked along the riverside a few times too looked around all the great shops the little sweet shop was brilliant as it had Rolys fudge and its my favourite fudge place also beautiful houses round the back of the shops we parked in the model village car park and it was £4.50 for 5 hours what a good price and cheap such a happy and peaceful place in the Cotswolds we will be back."
