Cafe and Dining

Pros:

  • "The centre itself offer an indoor play area for young children with a small cafe, while The Boardwalk cafe is bigger with a great selection of savory meals and sweet treats."
  • "The café on site always has a good stock of delicious homemade cakes (alongside a regular menu) with plenty of gluten free and vegan options."
  • "The cafe is amazing, so many seats and staff are so friendly."
  • "Nice cafe at park with seating both inside and out with views across lake."
  • "The food has always good with lots of choice especially for those like me with dietary requirements, it's very reasonably priced too."
  • "The nature center has a good cafeteria with good choices on the menu and activities for kids."

Cons:

  • "The cafe was quite busy and the food was okay, not bad but a bit expensive for what it was."
  • "Cafe was a little expensive but all cafes in nature or garden centre's are."
  • "They've stopped the help yourself jugs of water which was disappointing and now charge 60p for condiments like tomato sauce and mayonnaise!"
  • "The only disappointment of the day was sitting down in the café at 1445 and trying to order food to be told they'd stopped serving at 1430."
  • "I was disappointed that the lady serving was touching the rim of the drinking glasses."
  • "Service was slow..so you dont need to be in a hurry."
  • "The soft play area is unsupervised and during school holidays overrun with kids too old for it."

  • "Parking can be paid for by card now which is easier and in winter it's £1.50."
  • "Plenty of parking available at a reasonable £2.50 for a full day."

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately today all pooh bins were overflowing with the heat they stank and was fly's all around the bins, goes to show does get picked up shame wasn't anyone there to of empty the bins."
  • "Parking was quite difficult is the only downside but it shows how popular the place is!"
  • "£2.50 to park, they've updated their carpark ticket machines, so you can pay by card but you also now have to put your reg in now. So, no more passing on your ticket!"
  • "A nice nature park BUT the car parking here is an absolute joke. Neither of the two pay machines are working now so you have to use the kiosk in the park centre."
  • "Carpark is too much. I'm sure people would be happy to go for a coffee or ice-cream here but are put off by the cost of parking."
  • "Only downside I knocked a star off for is, one of us is disabled so we have a blue badge. There are only a few blue badge parking spaces and last time we went they were all taken and 1 car did not have a blue badge."
  • "Price has increased 25% to £2.50 for the day even if you just want a couple of hours."

  • "Whisby offers kilometers of very accessible walking space amongst the lakes and conservation areas to the West of Lincoln."

Cons:

  • "Also for such a tiny lake, it's amazing how little of it you get to see! (Mainly blocked by trees)"
  • "Some of the smaller paths into the more inaccessible areas do get too muddy for buggies and wheelchairs during the winter."
  • "I think there's actually only 1 walk out of about 6 where you can let your dog off lead (and it's the shortest one) which is really disappointing."
  • "Whisby is a reasonable short walk around a small lake (an old quarry). It is very busy, and no good for anyone craving wilderness and solitude!"
  • "The start of Coot walk as you come off the bridge is also very narrow, and the gradient makes it a constant battle to not go head first into the stream."
  • "Some of the walks are not wheelchair friendly but two of them are very suitable."
  • "The walks could do with some areas re surfacing, as it is a bit tricky to manoeuvre in an electric chair over the pot holes on grebe lake walk."
