Animal Enclosures and Variety

Pros:

  • "All the animals seemed happy and well looked after which is the main thing."
  • "Very conservation driven. Take your own butties, limited food but plenty drinks available. Animals well looked after."
  • "The zoo is clean and tidy with plenty to see. All the animals look good."
  • "The new elephant enclosure is excellent. Very big and houses the elephants that recently relocated from our local zoo, Twycross."

Cons:

  • "The only issues is some of their more larger enclosures are lacking animals and lively activities."
  • "I'm not sure if because of the weather, but most animals were nowhere to be found or hidden in their cages."
  • "A few moments where we got a bit lost due to some unclear signage and I found it difficult to get a drink through the park."
  • "Unfortunately due to ongoing construction works and Avian Flu a lot of the park was closed off and few animals to see, Lions, Tigers, Wolves and Otters were all MIA."

Staff and Customer Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were all super friendly and happy to discuss animals with the visitors."
  • "Staff are polite and helpful. I advise most of the daylight for long visit."
  • "One keeper was so receptive to our autistic boys and included them in how he was feeding the monkeys by talking to the boys and getting the monkeys close for them."
  • "All staff in all departments were lovely and friendly and helpful, best credit given to the girl who had a stall near to the entrance when we went in who gave us a talk/quiz on several items from animals present in the zoo that were used for different purposes they shouldn't be allowed to."

Cons:

  • "The zoo staff are really friendly and keep the zoo nice a clean top marks for all the cleaning team but the food my older son loved his sandwich."
  • "Staff visibly cleaning and maintaining the whole attraction but some parts were not viewable due to improvements but overall with a sunny day the walkaround was enjoyable, got busier with people and kids as time passed but still was able to see what we wished."
  • "Staff are attentive and make you feel safe in the new Covid world but just watch out for the pesky seagulls diving about after your sandwiches."

Facilities and Cleanliness

Pros:

  • "The zoo itself was larger than I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised by large open enclosures and many more animals than I expected."
  • "The zoo is very clean and seems well kept. Restaurants are well stocked and fairly priced. Plenty of picnic areas if you wish to bring you own food."
  • "The zoo is clean and tidy with plenty to see. All the animals look good. Plenty of picnic tables dotted about too."
  • "The zoo is always worth a visit. Great selection of animals and always updating/ improving their living areas."

Cons:

  • "The car park looked like it was on industrial estate as the terrain was a mess, there was no walk ways and not enough space which caused people to be parking inconsiderately."
  • "The cafe was very slow so a packed lunch is recommended especially with little ones."
  • "The parking does have a cost so bring change. Little shows on throughout the day but the food and cafe areas have only a very small menu and limited selection so maybe a good idea to take a packed lunch."
