Park Facilities

Pros:

• "Brilliant park with plenty of open space."

Children's Play Area

• "The new park is a fantastic addition and our 2 year old loves it, a visit is now part of our weekend routine."

• "Play park wise it's great because there is a sandy play area for smaller children and then a larger area for older kids."
• "A very large park often hosting events. There is a large playground and sand pit catering for children of all ages."
• "New park, safe and toddler friendly as inside a large gated area, lots of different equipment."
• "The indoor climbing area for kids is a great way to introduce toddlers to this type of activity."
• "3 tennis courts (astroturf), basketball courts, 5-a-side pitches, slides and castles for the little ones, football pitches."

Cons:

• "Nothing really for kids under 6 that's why it only get's '3 Stars ***'."

• "Large park, run down playground. Playground is badly neglected, one of the gates is locked, one of the swings is missing and the other ones are only suitable for babies and toddlers."

• "There are rats running around the pond and I guess that's a sign that we can't afford to look after the park."

• "Pre covid there used to be lots of events here too such as charity runs, festivals, carnival and even a circus."
• "It’s a very convenient place to organise outdoor events with permission of the local council and there are a few events happening each year - food festival etc."
• "During the summer they organize a 1-day motorshow. Perfect for families with kids."
• "Many events held here including boot fairs and carnival."
• "Great place to go for a run, walk your dog or to let your children burn off some excess energy. The park plays host to Carters Steam Fair, Car boot sales, Varied types of festivals, Cancer Research charity runs and a number of other family orientated events."
• "Every year 1st of July there is show called Berkshire motor show it was my 1st time I attended this show and all the money raised by this show goes to firefighter charity."

Cons:

• "The park was overrun with caravans and all the grass had been churned up and litter was everywhere unfortunately."
• "Its all well and good letting bears live in Prospect park, but it ruined our picnic!"

• "There is a nice pub called The Mansion at the top of the hill aswell."
• "Feeling thirsty? Then head over to Ela's coffee bar by the play park for the best milkshake in Reading."
• "The mansion house offers you a variety of food to chose from if you wish to eat."
• "Great open space that has a pond a children's play park, mansion house where you can get some great food."
• "There is also a restaurant in the park where you can enjoy a tasty meal."

Cons:

• "However, the food could be better."
• "The pub is ok but the food, while cheap, is only ok. Not brilliant. Good for snacks and stuff but not for a delicious meal."

• "Very cold as back door kept open for smokers and literally freezing outside."
• "The park is awesome but the reason I've been rated it as 3 stars is that so many coloured skin people (not racist, just a warning) are constantly looking for stealing your bike, electric scooter or your bags."
