Beach and Coastal Area

Pros:

  • "Sunny morning, lots of folk walking dogs, out with kids."
  • "Love this coastal area. Each time you go for a walk there is always something different to see."
  • "Cycled there from speke. Beautiful beach, was clean, no rubbish plenty of rubbish bins for use."
  • "This beach is beautiful. Hadn't been before and was desperate to feel the sand between my toes."
  • "Nice clean coast, no rubbish around, though no bins or toilet available."
  • "Stunning coastal park. Over a mile of beach from Seaforth Docks to Crosby Life Guard Station."
  • "It's a really nice place to take the kids on a sunny day. Park area is nice and big."
  • "The area is great for walking, sea breeze and sunsets."

Cons:

  • "The stretch between the path and sea not very attractive sadly, sand dews on other side were ok."
  • "Like swimming in industrial waste, this is the place for you."
  • "Lovely place although our dog was bitten here! Potential for aggressive animals running freely!"
  • "Very near the mouth of the Mersey, so if you want unfettered views of sea, sand and sky, probably not for you."
  • "Sadly the prom is not maintained by the council. Anyone with mobility problems could struggle due to large areas blocked by sand."
  • "The iron men need digging out. In danger of disappearing under tons of sand."
  • "It was delightful until the local mutants decided to race cars around, smoke weed like it was going out of fashion and sniff laughing gas."
  • "On a nice day weather wise fantastic specially if the tide is out, lovely beach also grassed area ideal got kite flying, long flat walks both ways from Coastguard Station sadly not in official use."

Parking and Facilities

Pros:

  • "Reasonable parking charges £1.90 up to 4 hours."
  • "Crosby beach (next door) is the permanent home of Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' so gets quite a few visitors wishing to see that installation. There is good car parking which can get busy on sunny days."
  • "A great place to take the kids. The car park is reasonable, the play park is great and there is a cafe with public toilets."
  • "Parked by the Coastguard station. Tide was out so we were faced with a huge expanse of sand."
  • "Beautiful, and well-looked after with nearby amenities. South Road nearby hosts a vast array of restaurants, fast food and various other shops."

Cons:

  • "The beach itself is approached down several steep steps and is not equipped for wheelchair users."
  • "Lovely walk along the marina and up the beach and back. Stopped off for brunch at the double decker bus bar and food place. Food orders only start at 12 noon, somebody told us, but a sign up would be good 👍."
  • "Lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon. Dogs welcome too. Great walk for the little ones. Always clean a well cared for. Although why make a free place to visit with the kids now chargeable with pay car parks."
  • "Good flat path which went a fair distance. The stretch between the path and sea not very attractive sadly, sand dews on other side were ok."
  • "The park itself is fantastic open space. Although since lockdown it seems to have become Poo Central for a small percentage of dog walkers who don't clean up after their pets."
