  • "The Christmas dinner was lovely, really nice and great value for money."

  • "The food was amazing would highly recommend."
  • "The ribs! However my husbands burger was poor (the chicken burger)."
  • "The food was well prepared and tasty."
  • "The food was great, the service was great, and very friendly staff."

Cons:

  • "The food: was average, the beer: was good options, service: very good and nice staff."
  • "The food was unfortunately, impressive. My friend had 'homemade' chicken and bacon pie, large portion but awful soggy bottom which she couldn't eat."
  • "Terrible roast beef, the so tough it was inedible, some of the veg was actually rotten."
  • "The day we went was midweek so there were few people. Some of the starters were a bit disappointing but the mains were well received."
  • "Really disappointed, the outside of the B&B looked lovely as well as the inside, we had a roast dinner which was one of the worst roasts I have ever had and it was so overpriced for what it was!!"
  • "The pub itself is lovely, only 3 stars as our meals were warm not hot."
  • "The food was good but wouldn’t say it was great if I’m honest."
  • "We had Christmas Dinner here as we enjoyed it before in 2019. I didn't feel as if we had the same value for money as before and left still hungry."

Service Quality

Pros:

  • "The young man who greeted us was so nice and attentive and the waitress was lovely."
  • "Courteous young man served us which made such a difference compared to other places."
  • "The staff were lovely and so friendly and helpful."
  • "Service was brilliant and the food and deserts were amazing."
  • "I was greeted very warmly as I walked into the light and airy bar area, clad in my leathers."
  • "A good choice of food on the menu, plus daily specials to watch out for. Also plenty of choice drinks wise too."
  • "The staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much."
  • "The staff were all polite and very helpful and most of all understanding, due to my mum's dietary needs."

Cons:

  • "Service was poor, with bar staff having little-to-no personal skills."
  • "The service needed improvement. Simple things like making sure we had the right condiments with the mains, that drinks were brought at the same time and plates are brought with the starters."
  • "Well.... We had a family gathering, the wait for food was so long, around 1 1/2hrs and was a total disappointment."
  • "The pub itself is lovely, only 3 stars as our meals were warm not hot, the waitress forgot cutlery and then forgot a second time after prompting, even then no napkins."
  • "We had a word with the manageress who took off all the food from the bill and apologised for our experience and says they were overwhelmed of the people who book."
  • "Booked with in-laws turned up to have table cleared from last diners while we were seated there. Had to ask for drinks, then starters and again for drinks."
  • "Arrived with my inlaws & kids & we were hungry. We waited 35mins for a sharing platter which was vegetarian option (no cooking involved) that was a clue to the rest of the evening! Waited 1hr 15mins for macaroni cheese & was delivered dried out."
  • "Only had pizza there and it was very average, done better myself at home."

Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "We stayed in the seaside suite which was lovely and spacious!"
  • "Very pleasant inn, lovely decor and atmosphere."
  • "The place is beautifully decorated throughout."
  • "The bar area is Dog Friendly and in my opinion is as smart as the restaurant."
  • "Lovely venue and lovely food!"
  • "Wonderful 16th century building tastefully and respectfully decorated, the bar and restaurant is comfortable and welcoming."
  • "This pub is quite large, with at least three indoor rooms plus a garden with seating as well."
  • "First impressions; I was greeted very warmly as I walked into the light and airy bar area, clad in my leathers."

Cons:

  • "Overall we had a lovely time, however I felt the decor could've been more true to the roots of the building, it felt slightly soulless in my opinion."
  • "The pub itself is lovely, only 3 stars as our meals were warm not hot."
  • "1st time we've visited since it's reopened. Looks great for its revamp, but I felt too many tables were crammed in close to each other."
  • "We came here when it first reopened and the staff and food were fantastic, so we decided to come back for my 50th birthday meal. Oh dear, what a difference a few months makes. Rude staff and a waitress that didn't have a clue."
  • "We booked for our anniversary, and was impressed with the new decor. We were put on a tiny table in the bar, squashed between two others, and weren't impressed until we saw how full it became."
  • "I do not think the Ship Hotel was worth £160 a night."
  • "Had dinner here last night 25th August 2021 location fantastic as staying in Dymchurch, premise lovely and stylish inside, waited an hour for our food."
  • "Nice enough - overall OK. Welcomed with a lovely open fire and clean decor."
