Play Areas

Pros:

  • "The kids play area look great."
  • "There are 3 parks for children to play on, parking on the grass near all play area."
  • "Children's playgrounds. Some interesting things to see."
  • "Great parks for the kids, slides, sand pits and climbing frames."
  • "Several very well equipped play areas."
  • "Three play areas with good range of play equipment. Suitable for all ages of children."
  • "It has play parks here and they are actually quite good."

Cons:

  • "But the state of the play parks (the main reason we attended today) are appalling there is litter and animal poo throughout... litter everywhere weeds growing through most of the climbing frames... exposed screws and broken equipment everywhere."
  • "The only negative was there was a bit of rubbish on the floor in the picnic areas near the sand pit and we had been the only ones there all morning so must have been from previous day/s."
  • "The play areas were the same as the year before except were definitely a lot more worn and again in need of some repair and/or replacement in some parts as they just aren't fit for purpose anymore."
  • "Ok, but lots of older children allowed to play on apparatus really designed for younger children, my young Grandchildren felt bit intimidated by it."

Parking and Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Only £4.50 for a car to stay all day and free on foot."
  • "Plenty of parking onsite, but gets very busy when the weather is good."
  • "Plenty of parking on grass areas so you can picnic by your car."
  • "Cars are allowed everywhere so there's a lot of parking space."
  • "Parking only £4 the car the whole time you're there."
  • "All day parking costs £4.50 which is fairly reasonable."
  • "£2 entrance fee for vehicles to enter the park, which seems reasonable."

Cons:

  • "The pathway doubles up as a road though and cars seem to still drive at 20+mph."
  • "Charge £5 per vehicle for parking... Not worth the parking charge."
  • "Parking was £5 per car (a bit pricier than some country parks)."
  • "Barrier was down and no facility to pay for parking with a card....would have thought they would have organised for card payment in view of the pandemic and the public being encouraged not to pay with cash."
  • "Now they have shut the road over half of the park, parking is horrendous on any day with half decent weather."
  • "Only downside is the amount of cars on the grass and driving through the country park, making pedestrians move every minute."
  • "Can get very busy at weekends and public holidays when a lot of the grass areas become a car park."

Cafe and Food Options

Pros:

  • "The cafe on the grounds at Emberton have a great selection (including vegan sausage rolls and gluten free crisps)."
  • "There is also a shop where you can buy ice creams, hot drinks and snacks."
  • "Cafe run by very nice people, small and always overrun in high demand."
  • "Small cafe which sells food and drinks."
  • "The cafe staff were very polite, informational and the beverages were spot on - I could compare my coffee to a Costa!"
  • "Cafe selling ice cream, coffee, other snacks and food."
  • "There is a cafe where you can have a drink, eat something and buy ice cream for children :) And free toilets."

Cons:

  • "Toilets were a MASSIVE disappointment. The main toilets are being refurbished so the other options are 1 disabled access portaloo and alternative toilets half way around the lake in need of a lot of TLC."
  • "It's a shame they not allow any type of cooking or BBQ anymore also no inflatable toys for children."
  • "If you've just sold your house or won the lottery then there is a coffee shop there that must get their stock from the moon or something because prices are high so after paying to park your car you can walk in there to spend the rest of your month's wages getting a few hot drinks."
  • "Cafe was visually much improved however, the service was average at best on the day we visited. Expensive if you are bringing the car into the park with you."
  • "It could have done with a larger cafe though - we wouldn't come back if the weather was uncertain or cold as there just isn't anywhere really to sit down for a coffee indoors."
  • "The cafe can be expensive for what it is, which is a shame, because having a cafe on site is a real bonus!"
  • "Toilets a massive let down. Either closed due to vandalism, or just closed."

General Park Experience

Pros:

  • "A lovely country park. Ideal for walks with the family."
  • "A quiet lake in the middle makes the stroll around the lake nice and peaceful."
  • "Great place for a whole host of reasons... Great for walking, camping, parilties in Summer, wildlife abounds."
  • "A great place for a relaxed family day out."
  • "Really great for visits all year round. Very well kept park."
  • "Fantastic country park with a nice circular walk around the lake which is about 2.2km."
  • "Lovely country park well maintained huge areas for walking cycling or resting or playing games."

Cons:

  • "Great for kids, not that exciting for adults!"
  • "It's such a small country park that even with children I can't see you spending more than half a day there."
  • "Poor, no investment in the place."
  • "Could really do with something else there to enjoy though and a cafe near the 2nd park."
  • "Very sadly our visit with our dog (and equipped with poo bags) was totally marred by the fact that most of the grass verges/areas could not be walked on as they were hugely littered with dog mess."
  • "But overall there is a big dependence on sunshine."
  • "Lovely during the week, but turns into your worst nightmare whenever there is a bank holiday or a sunny weekend as hoards of families from MK invade the park with cars and BBQs and TRASH the place."
