Activities and Recreation

Pros:

  • "Perfect location to do a Kayaking or some boating activities for a family."
  • "Great place to take the family you can take your own or hire paddle boards."
  • "Fantastic Marine Lake with loads going on. There's swimming of course, paddle boarding, for hire and you can bring your own."
  • "Great place to try out our inflatable kayak, really hard to know where to take it that's safe and convenient."
  • "Guilty of not using this great resource enough. We had a fun evening working on sub-board paddling."
  • "Absolutely brilliant, both my children (10 & 6) had an amazing experience. Sky was very helpful and explained in detail how to get the most out of there experience."
  • "Fab to have this sea swimming spot within reach. Well looked after and a pleasant place for cold water swims."
  • "An amazing day out I have been coming back here ever since I was a child and now I get to re live those memories while making new ones with my family and there is plenty for all ages arcades, train rides for kids, pebble beaches huge play area for the little ones plenty of food and in the evening it is great for a nice relaxed stroll for those that want a break from the kids or a romantic walk with their partner and for the adults a couple of nice pubs too."

Cons:

  • "NO DOGS allowed all year round at the marina Lido, although they can go on the field and beach which is large rocks and mud /silt."
  • "Needed some seaside, but being where it is, the sea often isn't in! Still, a nice walk along the 'promenade' and also around Poets Walk and past St Andrew's Church, with some sun, although very chilly."
  • "Height of summer, I wish they didn’t let flotation devices into the lake as it encourages too much noise from children and teenagers and discouraged swimmers which should be the main purpose of this pool. Should be a quiet place but very noisy."
  • "Busy when you would want to go. But you can always find somewhere to set your stuff down and have a little swim."
  • "its great for older children to swim in.Hardly any seating for spectators though."
  • "it's ok... excellent if you want to practice paddle boarding, or kayaking. bit nasty if you plan on swimming in it... glad there's a 'no dogs allowed' sign, no one wants to be stepping in what they drop while barefoot."
  • "Make sure you bring something for your feet before going in. There are lots of sharp stones and things at the bottom. Water wasn't very clean and can get very busy in good weather."
  • "Quite a big area which allows bathing and use of inflatables. There were loads of people in the water when we went."

Scenery and Environment

Pros:

  • "We stayed on the pub carpark overnight in our camper. £5 per day in low season and free 9pm to 9am - loved the views and the walk along the front."
  • "Surprisingly lovely place to visit, wasn't what I was expecting. Recommend bringing fold away camping chairs, there is plenty of shade by the wall."
  • "Fantastic Marine Lake with loads going on. Big green behind lake, great for picnics and ball games."
  • "Beautiful place which is perfect for a weekend chill. Great marine lake to enjoy a swim, boat ride or any water activities. Nice area to walk around as well with the hill and tower."
  • "A wonderful family day out at Marine Lake. We swam and kayaked in sunny weather. Fabulous views across to the Pier."
  • "Lovely outdoor swimming lake. Has a shallow 'model boat pool' great for young kids. The main swimming pool is 250m long with varying depth, up to 2.5m."
  • "Beautiful for a swim on a sunny day child loved it after she acclimatised but an amazing day out combined with the playground chip shops."
  • "Great place to spend a few hours. Have the lake to swim in, a little play area and bouncy castles. There is a little train you can go on but personally I think this is overpriced."

Cons:

  • "We traveled here for Park Run yesterday morning and it was absolutely gorgeous, tried to walk down over the rocks beyond the lake but forgot that it could be clay so got a bit dirty but still fun and such a stunning place."
  • "The sea around clevedon is a bit brown and so is the marina which refills on big high tides."
  • "Depends what you're into. This place is great for a visit in a hot day. The 'historical' pool is fully restored The water looks dirty but I haven't been I'll from swimming in it."
  • "Lovely location for family to leisurely swim but not be in the sea (bit safer). Public toilets (20p) were gross and that's the reason for dropped star."
  • "Lake has a lovely view, and we saw a few people swimming in it. Pebble beach just in front of it, Big Green behind with a small train ride, bouncy castle, and play park."
  • "it's always pleasant here, lots of families and people swimming. Got minimal facilities but you can leave your bags and swim with confidence if there are large amounts of people around."
  • "The water here is very cold and murky. All brown, full of mud. When underwater, you cannot see your own hand in front of you."
  • "Because it was a rainy day no one else wanted to swim outside so I had the lake to myself - exhilarating. If I lived in Clevedon, I would swim here every day in the summer. Two minor drawbacks: no changing facilities; and car park price - minimum £3 for up to 3 hours."
