Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Fantastic venue that catered kindly towards my heavily pregnant wife when we called up in advance."
  • "They have an excellent disability section that is raised to the side so you get a very good view."
  • "Went down for the recent Sleep show, staff and bouncers were really helpful making sure my wife (a wheelchair user) was able to get in and out of the venue safely and get a good view of the gig."
  • "We booked accessible seating and the staff made booking the space easy."

Cons:

  • "Sadly wheelchair users have the indignity of being carried upstairs!"
  • "As a place to see bands it's ok but heavily let down by... a positively dangerous narrow exit which turns into a huge crush at the end of a gig. And definitely not wheelchair friendly."
  • "The only negative is there is no other access than stairs."
  • "Narrow entrance, steep stairs."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service at the club is excellent."
  • "The Staff were friendly and the service was quick."
  • "Bar service was quick and efficient."
  • "Bar staff have good attention to detail."
  • "The bar staff are quick and helpful."
  • "Friendly staff, brilliant sounds, up to date music, cheap drink deals :)"
  • "The team on site were excellent- it was a very hot day, and the security team were handing out cups of water into the crowd - well done guys!"

Cons:

  • "Went here last night and ended up getting dragged into a stairwell on the top floor by bouncers cause I waved at one of them."
  • "This is the worst security team I have ever experienced, absolutely refusing to communicate or speak to us."
  • "The cloakroom staff couldn't find my friend's jacket."
  • "Employs some of the worst security I’ve ever seen at a club. Rude and unhelpful all night."
  • "The bouncer was rude and mean and so was the girl one."
  • "This has to be the worst experience with bouncers. They were extremely rude, uncooperative and aggressive."
  • "The bouncers are completely unreasonable and unfair, we ended up calling the non emergency line due to unruly abuse for simply sitting down whilst waiting for out coats."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "It’s one of my favourite venues in Bristol."
  • "Great place to watch our favourite band Doreen Doreen, with small elevated sections either side so you can avoid the crush of the main dance floor."
  • "The atmosphere is always electrifying!"
  • "Favourite music venue!! Incredible sound which really packs a punch for metal gigs in particular."
  • "The club is always kept clean and tidy during the night."
  • "Brilliant sounds, up to date music."
  • "Great venue great staff and a great sound."

Cons:

  • "Bit of an impersonal venue. Cold, empty and lacking in character."
  • "I enjoy concerts and live music but this was too loud to think. The sound quality was also horrendous, we left after an hour."
  • "The crowd is very young and rowdy."
  • "All the lighting is behind the stage so could be literally anyone on stage, and club sound system just not right for live music."
  • "Experience was mediocre at best."
  • "It was fine. Vibes were kinda dead and the DJ was unbelievably cringe."
  • "Large, soulless and lacking in atmosphere."

Drinks

Pros:

  • "They’ve got a decent selection of beers on tap(Camden hells, Stella) for about £7 a pint which so pretty standard for a gig tbh."
  • "The toilets were cleaner than expected and not crowded either even at the end of the show!"
  • "Very good prices on drinks."
  • "Great drinks prices to suit the student budget."
  • "Drinks are okay priced."

Cons:

  • "They will charge nearly 5 quid for a can of Budweiser because they have ran out of every single tap beer."
  • "Drinks can be a bit pricey."
  • "A selection of expensive drinks, the lager and GnT both tasted awful."
  • "Drinks were extortionate."
  • "Price of a drink was absolutely over priced, not sure how this is justifiable!!! Main reason for 3 stars."
  • "Alcohol was a bit pricey and the vodka tasted watered down not gonna lie."
  • "As people who don't go out very often, the £7.20 for a pint of draught cider seemed steep."

Layout and Design

Pros:

  • "Great venue. So much space to dance. Plenty of toilets. Having more than one bar is a bonus."
  • "Since the refurb been to loads of gigs here and loving it."
  • "Venue is brilliant, expected to be sweating and cramped like sardines but felt airy and plenty of space."
  • "Venue is great, nice layout."
  • "Great venue for going to gigs. Really good space for the standing crowd."
  • "Venue is a good size and stage is viewable from most locations with no real issues."

Cons:

  • "As a place to see bands it's ok but heavily let down by... a positively dangerous narrow exit which turns into a huge crush at the end of a gig."
  • "Visibility can be a bit of an issue though, if it's packed out it's kind of hard to see the band unless you're up front!"
  • "Poor venue layout. I feel like egress is always challenging if you're not the first person out."
  • "The rooms felt dark and dingy."
  • "Poor venue for live bands that have more than a few hundred fans as small audience area which fills up quickly."
  • "Nowhere to sit (told off for sitting on stairs when empty), cannot bring drinks outside and you can't leave & return the venue unless the bouncers are feeling nice."
  • "Too crammed for a decent venue."
