Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Access to the site is easy when you follow the signage."
  • "Massive car park with overflow and the following facilities - toilets, picnic benches, refreshment kiosk, book shop and a drinking water tap."
  • "The footpaths are well maintained and looked after, meaning that the main visitor center is easily accessible for pushchairs although there is a bit of a hill up to the visitor center."
  • "There’s wheelchair and pushchair walkways so everyone can enjoy the beauty of Brimham Rocks."
  • "The paths are extremely accessible for the less mobile and there is ample parking, including plenty of disabled parking."
  • "Blue badge holders don’t pay car parking charge either so a successful trip."
  • "Parking is free to NT members, just scan your card and display your window sticker."

Cons:

  • "Machine doesn't take cards."
  • "Took a while to pay for the car park. The meters only took coins so we had to download an app which is pretty slow in the countryside."
  • "Paying for parking (if not a National Trust member) is a little challenge. You need either coins or to download a parking app."
  • "You do have to pay for parking, I believe the machine only takes change which is annoying when you're in the middle of nowhere, like who carries change?"
  • "Parking costs £6 for 4 hours or £9 for all day. They only take cash too."
  • "Make sure you have change for the car park as it only accepts coins and is around £6."
  • "Despite what the website says you can pay for parking by card (£6 for 4 hours), though I recommend you get there early."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "There is a coffee shop which did lovely hot chocolate’s with cream and marshmallows."
  • "Facilities are clean, the area is kept clean."
  • "The staff were really helpful and there's even a charming used bookshop!"
  • "Near the summit there is a small café, clean toilets and a picnic area."
  • "There is cafe and visitor centre. You can picnic."
  • "There's a cafe further up the park selling the usual drinks plus nice ice cream."
  • "There is a shop for drinks, snacks and ice cream."

Cons:

  • "The cafe/food kiosk is expensive as you've no other choices for buying so, possibly a good idea to take picnic, or stop off before hand!"
  • "Be warned that the toilets are a 10-15 minute walk from the car park."
  • "Toilets on site but at top end 10 min walk from carpark."
  • "If you arrive needing the toilet the car park is at one end of the property and the toilets at the other end at least a 10 min quick walk away."
  • "Toilets are large and clean but are a good walk from the car park."
  • "The toilets really need to be located at the car park as well as the visitor centre!"
  • "Shame the cafe had closed an hour earlier than advertised."

Experience

Pros:

  • "It's one of the best places I've been to for a walk, and you can get some decent photos of the surroundings and the rocks!"
  • "Fantastic place to visit in North Yorkshire. Enjoyable circular walks around weird shaped rock formations."
  • "Absolutely stunning natural wonder! Brimham Rocks is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventurers."
  • "The surrounding natural environment at Brimham Rocks was equally captivating."
  • "Enjoy spectacular views and incredible geology in this strange landscape phenomenon."
  • "It’s a unique area. Everyone can find a 'friendly' rock to climb onto. Beautiful views."
  • "The scenery here is absolutely stunning. From the top of the rocks you can see for absolutely miles!"

Cons:

  • "A bit muddy today; there were a few people braving the muddier trail but a fair amount can be seen from the main path if preferred."
  • "Just make sure your kids don't wander too far they will get lost."
  • "Just a word of warning- we go often and the one time we went in shorts and picked up a tick."
  • "If you're coming to brimham rocks to enjoy the scenery and relax don't come at the weekend or when the kids are on holiday. It's like one massive adventure playground for them."
  • "Only anxiety I had was there were no safety advisories and children where climbing very high rocks."
  • "However, people do need to keep their dogs in check, I do like like to see dogs having a scrap over nothing."
  • "It may have just been the fog but it seems like it’d have been helpful to have a few more signs or ‘you are here’s on a map to make sure you’re heading in the direction you think you are, so you don’t miss anything."

Value

Pros:

  • "Parking is free for national trust members too."
  • "Great fun, all day long for the cost of car parking."
  • "All money for parking goes to the place to keep it looking stunning!"
  • "Although free to enter you do have to pay for parking (£6.50) which isn’t much for a days stay and all proceeds go towards maintaining the site."
  • "Parking is reasonable although does fill up on busy days so arrive early."
  • "Parking charges are reasonable bearing in mind entry to the site is free."

  • "£12 parking for a campervan."
