Park Facilities
Pros:
"It's got tennis courts, animals, and a children's park. It is really beautiful in places."
"The park's expansive grounds are perfect for leisurely strolls or picnics with family and friends."
"Golders Hill Park also offers a range of facilities for visitors to enjoy."
"Inside the park, it has got i) 4 tennis courts (not free), ii) a mini zoo... iii) a separate grassland for fallow deer, rheas, donkeys...etc.; iv) a duck & swan pond, v) a flower garden, vi) a cafe (called Refreshment House), vii) a large children play area (with a large climbing frame multi-flyer) and, viii) a spacious & beautiful landscape of grassland and trees."
"There are tennis courts at the bottom too and a bandstand in the middle where live music is performed in the summer months."
"Variety. There is a cafe, gardens, ponds, play areas, bandstand, and zoo, dear pen..... and a short walk from Golders Green tube station/ bus station and shopping area."
"For animal lovers there's the ZOO, there're 2 ponds with ducks and other birds, there's the butterfly house."
Cons:
"The only thing wrong with this park is that you MUST KEEP YOUR DOG ON THE LEAD."
"The toilets are closed which is a negative point."
"The butterfly house is a little underwhelming right now."
"The childrenβs playground could have more for older children - a flying fox, perhaps or a tall slide like the one in Victoria Park in Hackney."
"A little light on shaded areas in the playgrounds themselves."
"No drinking fountains in the playground area."
"The cafe DOES NOT have any allergen lists... If you have allergies id recommend not going to their cafe for this reason."
Cleanliness and Maintenance
Pros:
"Public toilets are clean but old fashioned."
"Park wardens are friendly, as long as you're not the last person in the park when they're trying to close up."
"Clean toilets."
"Very clean and well-maintained."
"Emaculately maintained public park."
"Just love this park which is so well kept by the City of London."
"Unlike the untouched Hampstead Heath, Golders Hill is a great example of a meticulously maintained park."
Cons:
"After a 3 hours of beautiful walks and kids enjoying the playground waiting in line for the toilet (only 2 available) wasnβt too pleasant."
"BUT something needs to be done about the toilets. They are never properly cleaned."
"Took a star because there are some issues with the public toilets."
"I visited in 2023 and noticed rats running about at the end of both my visits so I certainly knew it was time to leave!"
"The downside are dogs being exercised off leads even with a big sign at the entrance to keep them on leads."
"Yesterday unfortunately there were 2 very large groups in party mode so it sort of spoiled the usual serenity of the park."
"The terrace, which could be a bit more welcoming."
Food and Refreshments
Pros:
"Nice local on site restaurant as well."
"Great restaurant with quick bites and seating area."
"The coffee shop/restaurant is brilliant as you can quickly purchase a refreshing drink after a speedy run."
"The coffee shop does a nice breakfast and desserts."
"The cafe serves good quality food, as well as homemade ice cream served at the side of cafe, seating is plentiful."
"Nice coffee shop and food available too. They make their own Italian ice cream which is highly popular."
"Avoid the cafe in the park, it's overpriced & awful service, take a picnic instead!"
"The cafe sells delicious icecreams but rather expensive."
"The restaurant is ok, although I found it a bit pricey."
"The ice cream is now of cheap quality; It is not to Italian standards."
"Service today was brusque."
"The only thing that was annoying was the parking charges."
"You have to pay parking which is expensive so if you can get tube to goldens green then 5-10min walk."
Accessibility and Convenience
Pros:
"Many accessible paths for impaired or assisted."
"The bus stops at the gate."
"It's only two bus stops from Golders Green tube, so very easy to get to."
"Good transport connections and parking available for a cost."
"If you don't mind walking ten mins or so, there is plenty of free parking too."
"Car park nearby is quite expensive so just take a 210 or 268 bus from Golders Green tube station."
"Free parking only for blue badge holders."
Cons:
"Be mindful this is a gated park so check timings. Parking can be a nightmare in places and certain times of week/day."
"Parking is not free."
"One of the two donkeys sadly died in June."
"The bandstand is always empty when I visit, used to be music there regularly."
"The park is quite hilly so it may be a little bit of a struggle for people with low mobility."
"But muddy in winter."
"You can access Hampstead Heath from here, but unfortunately it is the seedy section of the heath, so it's best avoided especially if you have children."

"The live animals kinda zoo is a nice touch with deers, owls between other animals including a donkey couple."
"Lots of animals, a great playground."
Cons:
"The zoo (which is limited) a few minutes walk away."
"I saw one attacking the geese and ducks, some had been sleeping under bushes and no one batted an eyelid so my last visit was disturbing to say the least."
"Racially motivated, or just a thoroughly unpleasant old man? You decide readers. And be careful in case you bump into him."
"The children's play area is very well Thought Out and even has a swing ring which is suitable for disabled children."
"The park itself is brilliant however a 1 star for the absolute rude behaviour by one of the male gardeners."
