Food Quality

Pros:

Cons:

  • "The beetroot burger was salty with a slimy consistency and came with a pathetic number of soggy chips, ten chips at most."
  • "The tiny £14 mackerel hardly had any seasoning and looked very sorry itself as it came with no accompaniments or sauces."
  • "Food was lukewarm, roast potatoes themselves were powdery."
  • "Burgers were £15ish and were mediocre."
  • "The portion of lamb was smaller than the palm of an average female hand with little flavour."
  • "The food was ok to mediocre, the seasoning was either too salty or non existant on most of the dishes we ordered."
  • "Food tasted badly my wife had a problem to finish her couscous salad."

Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "I visited this pub on the first Saturday after lockdown ended and I was very impressed this is not your traditional pub this is more of a Gastro pub but it has the most fantastic garden lots of outdoor space multiple levels."

  • "Has one of the coolest outdoor seating areas ever!"
  • "The garden is an added bonus, large with nice seating areas."

  • "The atmosphere was great."

Cons:

  • "Major disappointment - free house, much money has been spent on the decor, and garden outside and gazebos."
  • "Unfortunately, there aren’t any vegan food options on the menu (other than sides) and vegetarian options are very limited."
  • "The menu was also quite difficult to 'read'."
  • "Went for a few drinks and left after 15 minutes."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The food is well above your standard pub fare but fairly priced and the service was excellent."
  • "Very tasty, still very cheap for such quality."
  • "The food and drink I had was of high quality and fair price."
  • "Fantastic food and excellent service. We had a selection of small plates / sides and every one was delicious and generously portioned."
  • "The menu had a note of exactly which suppliers were used for different ingredients and they were all local which I thought was excellent."
  • "It was the most impressive roast dinner I’ve eaten out. Crispy roast potatoes large portion and a vegan option which wasn’t an after thought but as good as the main menu."
  • "Portions were generous, my big chunk of halibut was very good value."

Cons:

  • "It is way overpriced for what you get. 1 spring roll costs £3, literally few pieces of cauliflower £8."
  • "Similar to previous reviewers excellent food however tiny portions... so all in all ...great tasting food but no value whatsoever..£100 inclusive of one bottle wine for two hardly warrants going home hungryish... pity as must repeat taste was superb."
  • "The new menu is very overpriced for what you get."
  • "Lovely venue and the food is nice enough but for £16 I expect an actual meal rather than 6 slices of lamb with nothing else. Extremely overpriced for what you get."
  • "Food is lovely, if a little overpriced."
  • "It is very overpriced for sure (see pictures) For monkfish 18£ without side, it looked hideous on the plate... Cheese plate 12£ I mean really?"
  • "Similar to previous reviewers excellent food however tiny portions... two small scallops accompanied by two one inch pieces of asparagus was pityful... however taste was fantastic ...slow roasted pork belly excellent and fortunately a fair sized portion... five slices of cheese with a teaspoon of chutney hardly represents six quid etc etc ..so all in all ...great tasting food but no value whatsoever."
