Drinks and Cocktails

Pros:

  • "I tried the following 4 and then lost myself to playing Pac-man."
  • "My favourite was the Full Tilt. Well balanced cocktail that felt like a fruit juice!"
  • "All their mixed drinks have video games theme for their names."
  • "I especially love the token amnesty where they donate the charity for each unspent token that you return."
  • "Good vibes and variety of games, consoles were free and the tokens weren’t bad value for money for the others."
  • "Drinks a little expensive but totally worth it."
  • "The bar has a bunch of fun cocktails that are themed after some of the games there."
  • "This is an incredible bar, filled with favorite arcade cabinets."

Cons:

  • "The cocktails were not good at all and couldn’t finish them, although the names and ideas were cool."
  • "Love this gaming bar! Cocktails however, not so great. They look the part but weren't very tasty, in my opinion."
  • "Regular drinks are reasonably priced, the gaming cocktails are around £9-10 but there is a lot of alcohol in them."
  • "Pricing on drinks is a bit too high. £6 for a pint of lager is a bit much."
  • "Cocktails are a tad expensive but taste nice."
  • "Only slight difficulty we had was keeping our drinks in eyeline when playing the multiplayer games."
  • "A fun night out, but god the price of the drinks was something else. My cocktail was £9 and I got three sips out of it."
  • "I've visited NQ64 twice now and it's a great night out! Loads of consoles and arcade machines to choose from and pretty decent prices given what's offered."

Gaming Experience

Pros:

  • "Great for wasting away a late afternoon with a beer and some retro games."
  • "Spent a Saturday afternoon here. Have visited this NQ64 before as well as a few others."
  • "This place is freaking amazing! Lots of the old school arcade games and game consoles."
  • "A great selection of games to play, both arcade and console."
  • "The choice of games is really good and all the arcade machines are in good working order."
  • "I love the place and its vibes! A lot of old school games. So nostalgic!"
  • "WOW! Or 'KATCHIIING', as the bartender said when we asked for 15 tokens to play at the arcades."
  • "Genuinely one of the coolest spots in Edinburgh; whether you're a gamer or not, you're likely to find some nostalgia here."

Cons:

  • "Time Crisis was half working so they let you go on it for free until it was fixed and that's my absolute favourite so I had a great time."
  • "Some of the old consoles like sega, n64, Dreamcast are free to play. Other machines require tokens which you can buy at the bar!"
  • "Only gripe I had was that some machines said they were 2 tokens but they actually took 3 tokens to start the game."
  • "The set up of this place is good but the booking options are expensive and we found a lot of the machines weren’t working properly or if they were supposed to sync / two player, they didn’t."
  • "The bulk of the arcade games are on a raised section of the bar that doesn't have any ramps."
  • "The place looked awesome on the inside. Only 3/5 stars though because we got there at noon (Google said this was when they opened, we walked inside through the open door) but the men inside behind the bars asked us to leave because they technically “weren’t ready yet”."
  • "Unfortunately many of the machines swallowed the tokens with out return."
  • "Music was far too loud, can't hear the tables let alone your own thoughts."

Ambience and Decor

Pros:

  • "Not just another arcade bar but neon theme with great drawings of the ENTIRE place!"
  • "There was a friendly member of staff and a chatty customer on the consoles."
  • "The neon aesthetic throughout was a delight and there were a fair number of games."
  • "It's so vibrant even the loos are awesome."
  • "The decor in here is wow very nice the cocktails are cool very different."
  • "The canned cocktails were amazing!"
  • "The atmosphere is imense and everyone should visit it when in Edinburgh."
  • "Great atmosphere, good music and very fun."

Cons:

  • "I can't stand how loud the music is due to my sensory issues, but aside from that I love it there."
  • "To start with, why wasn't it 80s/90s nostalgic pop anthems? But mainly, it's much too loud."
  • "Would be great if they had a coat room as its very warm inside and annoying to carry your coats and scarves from game to game."
  • "The theming and games in the bar are fabulous with good prices on the game tokens and free console games, the drinks are quite overpriced however this is understandable with maintenance."
  • "I had an amazing time here, its a great idea In principal but the layout and clientele also add to the experience."
  • "The guitar hero room cannot fit a wheelchair due to a barrel table right on the entrance."
  • "The place is so cool but music is insanity laud to me."
  • "The reason I give 3 stars is because whoever thought Dr. Dre's '2001' album should be played in its entirety needs to be introduced to musical diversity."
