Quad Biking

Pros:

  • "An absolute must do event, quad biking in the snow is soo much fun, the leader was brilliant, entertaining and funny."
  • "Quad biking at Rothiemurchus was brilliant, lovely trails, plenty of speed, lots of mud, highland cows and awesome scenery!!!"
  • "An amazing quad biking experience we won’t forget! We had so much fun, a big thank you to Jamie and staff for making it such a fun and interesting experience."
  • "Quad trekking was awesome, crossing rivers and then travelling down river was brilliant."
  • "Quad biking was amazing. Friendly guide who went the extra mile to make sure we got some great photo opportunities with the Highland Coos."
  • "Had a fantastic quad trek around the estate especially in the picture perfect snow conditions."
  • "Absolutely fantastic time was had quad biking around the estate."

Cons:

  • "The only reason I’m knocking off a ⭐️ is that it was very expensive, we didn’t go too far round the estate, just on a dirt track, and we only went riding for 50 mins, would’ve liked longer."
  • "The bike was a bit heavy as compared to my previous experience of ATV and MTV at different locations but it was manageable."
  • "Our teenagers loved the Quad bikes and needed no prior experience to do so. We did want to stop more and take photos, but we weren't sure if we could."
  • "Had great time with great guides the times that I have been Quad Biking with you. The only thing is the time spent with young or older partisans who don't have a clue, I don't know how you can solve this but it has been a damper on future booking from me and friends."
  • "Went on the Highland Coo safari; loved seeing the coos, but it can hardly be called a 'safari' and the price should reflect that."
  • "We were very disappointed because the guy welcoming us told us that we could do as many runs as we wanted, or once we done the two courses, all the team eventually told us it was extra 10 £ the additional lap."
  • "Instructor obnoxious and horrible to everybody."

Falconry Experience

Pros:

  • "Very informative talks in between various birds of prey flying and landing on your hand."
  • "We did falconry, and what an amazing experience this was!"
  • "So enjoyed my first falconry experience that I was there again today with my family. It is a wondrous experience being up close with the majestic birds."
  • "Falconry is fantastic. Really great, safe, informative experience from a very talented and experienced falconer."
  • "Falconry experience was sensational."
  • "Just did the falconry experience and it was absolutely fantastic! Our host was so informative, funny and engaging and quite clearly had such a good relationship with the birds of prey."
  • "The Falconry Experience at Rothiemurchus was exceptional!"

Cons:

  • "Not only was our first encounter with a bull who had a RING placed in its nose (extremely outdated, inhumane practice), but we were told a story of the little calves that shared the same pen...they 'saved' them from an okay situation to be slaughtered in certainty."
  • "The only bad part was that it didn't last long enough."
  • "Not even 1/4 of the way round my daughter got stuck and had to be rescued by one of the workers."
  • "Thought it was a little unsafe as if a pony bolted or something it could have been interesting."
  • "The only advice I would give is for the instructor to speak up & a bit louder with how to gear up and instructions."
  • "Finishing didn't meet our expectations! There were lot of people and the proportion of catching a fish was very low!"
  • "It was a really nice trail but I feel that my visit got off to a weird start and it never really recovered throughout the hour long trek."

Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Once a fan of Rothiemurchus- it seems likely I'll always be one! This last trip was no exception. Wonderful service, a genuine, authentic and educated team across areas of activities, retail and accommodation."
  • "The place was very helpful and accommodated letting us on the tour without a car and let us go with the ranger."
  • "The staff were friendly and gave great directions. The pony’s were well trained and the tack comfortable."
  • "The staff where great, very helpful and knowledgeable."
  • "Outstanding service and assistance throughput the entire experience."
  • "The staff are incredible! They are so pure and chatty! They make sure you feel safe and comfortable and are really encouraging!"
  • "All the guides were patient, knowledgeable, and had a great attitude overall."

Cons:

  • "Our family visited from California. Our tour company booked horse back riding lessons for my kids and wife. Being our first time in this country, we were running 10 minutes late. The tour guide was incredibly upset and would not let it go."
  • "Had a lovely time with the quad bikes but horrendous experience with the woman that manages the horses. Kept swearing all the time at my wife and nieces, complained and grumbled making the atmosphere completely negative removing any joy from the experience."
  • "Booked a wee womble ride for our 3 old and she was beyond excited. The pony centre called and cancelled the ride 5 hours before the activity due to 'frost' (it’s a lovely sunny day). Now we have a very sad little girl!"
  • "Customers that are late though really impact group."
  • "Booked this because we wanted to be up close and personal with the highland cows. Unfortunately didn’t even see one."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "The restaurant/cafe is lovely and food is also good. Farm shop is big and has a good range of local goods."
  • "There was also a good sandwich cafe, bathrooms, and parking right next to the Tree Zone."
  • "Great place to stop while travelling in area. Home cooked, good Quality, food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff."
  • "Always worth a look around the shop, and the Barn has great food (particularly the cheese scones!)"
  • "There is ample parking around and the visitor centre also has a cafe, gift shop and activity booking desk."
  • "An excellent place to stay - clean, easily accessible with friendly staff."
  • "Car park team was very friendly and helpful."

Cons:

  • "Very busy at the centre and not very clear on the instructions where to meet."
  • "However, the cafe is rather over priced for the small selection on offer."
  • "However, the toilets were a bit on the small side, only 3 of them, one a disabled toilet, and the cleaning product gave off a very pungent chemically smell."
  • "The gift shop closes at 4.30pm so bear that in mind if you're going on one of the later treks and wanted to visit that too."
  • "I would recommend taking a midge hat or something for the flies. Because my son couldn't cope with the number of flies up there."
  • "The price can be a little less."
  • "Only downside is £37 cost for 1 night, includes EHU."
