Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Fantastic food, some of the best we've had in our 10 day Scottish road trip."
  • "Best eggs Florentine I've had yet. Hollandaise sauce was perfect."
  • "The steak pie was great! Flaky pastry and well-seasoned meat."
  • "Haggis goujons with whiskey marmalade and potato mouse followed by grilled salmon leeks mini potato and broccolini all well cooked and tasty."
  • "The food was amazing. I had the trio of salmon for starters and then duck for main, both dishes were lovely and well presented."
  • "The Rigatoni with mushrooms, tuscan sausage and chicken thighs... it was literally the bowl of never ending pasta and it was delicious."
  • "The food was wonderful, tender, and full of flavour."

Cons:

  • "The pizza I ordered was burnt on the edges with a soggy bottom."
  • "The scrambled egg was overcooked and everything else was quite average for the price."
  • "Duck very dry and fondant potatoes tasted like burnt fat."
  • "Partners duck dish was bland, sauce didn’t taste of much."
  • "The batter for the fish was very greasy."
  • "The main courses are very dated."
  • "The apple pie was OK, but the rest was terrible, especially the creme brulee."

Service

Pros:

  • "Really attentive staff, lovely food and cannot fault this place."
  • "The staff are excellent."
  • "Waiters and waitresses very attentive."
  • "Staff were all very attentive, professional & polite."
  • "The staff were friendly and offered some good recommendations."
  • "Very friendly and smiley and warm."
  • "The service was funny, fast and friendly all in one."

Cons:

  • "Though the staff were quick and efficient, that day they didn't seem too inviting (a mixed batch)."
  • "The lack of knowledge of the menu by serving staff seemed odd."
  • "Service needs a lot of improvement: waiters show “bad mood” and lack of attention to tourists."
  • "Service was not great - we were given dessert menu and had to attract attention of waiter to actually order and were never asked if any more drinks were required."
  • "Unprofessional and impolite attitude (e.g., refuse to change orders, forget correct orders and then blame customers for making wrong choice when waiter actually didn't remember)."
  • "A staff (snobby woman probably manager) told us no seats was available for dinner but that she would check the outside space for tables. There were four tables available but she chose to give it to 4 women who came in after us."
  • "So Rude!! Ordered a table until 18:15, got told at 17:50 we couldn’t have our desert inside because it was too busy so got sent outside to have it, only to be told we couldn’t have it at all!"

Price

Pros:

  • "Our meal was quick, tasty and well priced."
  • "At least you feel like you're getting what you pay for."
  • "Seems expensive at first but the food we got was great."
  • "Great food at reasonable prices so much so we paid £20 too much after reading the bill wrong which was returned to us post haste."
  • "Really good food and generous helpings at a very reasonable price."
  • "Reasonable pricing, will definitely return."
  • "The food was sensational, really good menu and large portions for starters (Prawn and Avacado) as well as the mains - Steak Fajitas and a Black Pudding Salad?"

Cons:

  • "Prices have taken a hike up ben y vrackie skywards..."
  • "Totally overpriced for what we got. Whilst service and staff were lovely definitely won't be rushing back."
  • "I found it expensive for what we had but otherwise it was good."
  • "It is a smidge on the expensive side."
  • "Delicious food, but the salmon is ridiculously overpriced at nearly £11 for three small plates."
  • "2 sandwiches, 2 fries, and 2 coffees were over £50 which is expensive."
  • "Pricey, the bottle of wine cost £24.99 which was a typical Tesco supermarket wine which would normally cost between £6-£8.00, which I thought to be excessive."

  • "The restaurant was clean and had a nice ambience."

Cons:

  • "Also, it is difficult to park b in this town as high street spots are only 30 minutes."
  • "4stars for atmosphere as eventhough everything was grand from Victorias themselves, the party beside had one member that was a little bit too drunk and was just loud and a few things we really didn't want to hear whilst eating."
  • "The decor is a bit outdated, and that would be the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars."
  • "Only reasons to hold back from five stars were that the wine was OK but not top notch and Rod Stewart was on the the music."
  • "Only down side was the cold air conditioning hence the four star for atmosphere."
  • "The atmosphere was a bit overpowering sitting near a loudspeaker but the music was fun."
  • "Being chased twice after enjoying a great meal was a dampener on the evening..."
