Location & Views

Pros:

  • "Absolutely loved this place great views lovely clear sea water."
  • "A stunning campsite with beautiful sea views."
  • "Lovely campsite right next to the coast. Beautiful views and all you need facilities available."
  • "Fantastic campsite, with stunning views!! Our second time back here!!"
  • "The views from this site and the surrounding area are really lovely."
  • "What a stunning location with a wonderful panorama view."
  • "The location is special, just yards from the beach, and with a terrific view."

Cons:

  • "To be upfront hated the site worst site I have ever been on getting to the site in my mind is unsafe as got to travel down a single track road and bendy road which I think is unsuitable for towing a caravan down or even a motor home."
  • "The only thing is the road was very long and narrow but at the end was well worth it."
  • "To visit Port A Bhaigh you must leave the A835 south of Drumrunie turning sharply out to the west 12 miles on the narrowest single track road."
  • "But I think £10 is a bit steep to fill with water, dump grey and black and drop a small bag of rubbish in a bin."
  • "Although the site is quite a long way down single track roads we did not find this a problem when towing a caravan as there are plenty of passing places and the roads were quiet."
  • "Beautiful scenery on the great 12mile drive in & out of the site on single track roads."
  • "It's a cool single track drive off the main road with a spectacular finale as you get to the campsite."

Facilities & Cleanliness

Pros:

  • "The facilities block is new and well appointed with wet-room level eco-showers."
  • "The facilities were excellent, great showers and toilets which were very well maintained."
  • "Staff very helpful. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent."
  • "Free showers, access to kitchen and laundry area."
  • "Very very clean and modern facilities, shower/toilets wise, and even washing/drying machines, microwave etc."
  • "The facilities are very good, showers and toilet block are first class."
  • "The Shower and Toilet facilities were warm, bright, and very clean."

Cons:

  • "The facilities block... but no privacy cubicles."
  • "We personally found the shower block cold, and the WiFi you can only get when next to the building."
  • "Showers where ok people just need to clean up after themselves a bit better."
  • "Rubbish and food waste on the ground around our pitch when we arrived, bins overflowing and the beach is full of rubbish."
  • "The bins were very full and were smelling toward the end of our stay."
  • "One shower in the male side had a stool in it. There should be one, or a shelf in all as otherwise clothes & shoes got soaked."
  • "Showers are the kind where you have to press the button every 6 seconds, but clean and hot."

Staff & Service

Pros:

  • "Arrived and hooked Up quickly, friendly staff, very informative."
  • "Friendly and welcoming owners and always available for a chat in the well stocked on-site shop."
  • "The staff were lovely and the cherry on top was the bar and restaurant, which had great service as well as food."
  • "Everyone was very welcoming, the facilities were fantastic."
  • "Staff are always helpful and accommodating."
  • "The woman at reception is so lovely, friendly and helpful."
  • "The staff could not be any more accommodating."

Cons:

  • "Terrible service, a sour faced receptionist who couldn't be more rude if she tried."
  • "Let down by a rude manager/owner who attempts to blame the customer rather than acknowledge his own failings in bookings and check in, very unpleasant."
  • "The owner appeared to be just ramming as many people as he could into the site."
  • "Looked like a lovely campsite, myself and wife arrived to not a great welcome from the blonde haired receptionist."
  • "Only complaint would be the check in process."
  • "Prices on site do not reflect prices online."
  • "Apparently the on-site pub was open 'normal hours' we went up at 4 pm to be told that the floor was wet and they’d be open at 4.30 which was a shame."

Additional Amenities

Pros:

  • "Great spacing between vans."
  • "Nice campsite on the beach, suitable for swimming and kayaking."
  • "To book and pay, ascend the hill to the owner’s pub. With friendly bar and dining room serving snacks and main evening meals, it has a convivial atmosphere."
  • "The pub over the road is pretty good (same owners as campsite), they manage to keep tables of diners happy with pretty decent food."
  • "They don't have regular menu as the menu is based on what they catch that day."
  • "There is free WiFi but the range doesn't extend much beyond the facilities block but it's enough to check Facebook etc. and it is free."
  • "The pub across the road served the most amazing meals, they have vegetarian options."

Cons:

  • "It was a shame that the lights on site are so bright- the posts and the shower block lights which are on all night (why aren't they on movement sensors?)- this created a lot of light pollution which stopped us being able to see the night sky properly."
  • "An electric car charger is available on-site, but it didn't work when we visited."
  • "No fires, unless you hire a fire pit from the shop which is £17pn which is so steep."
  • "Direct access to beach which was a mix of sand and pebbles/boulders at low tide."
  • "The firewood was expensive (£15 for either kindling or logs- neither of which is much use on its own, plus a £10 deposit for a small firepit) and the logs were damp and smoky and wouldn't stay alight properly."
  • "WiFi in the toilet area was causing lots of people to gather in front of the toilet block."
  • "The Wi-Fi is available in the facility and the bar. Relatively fast considering the remote location (not available on the pitching slots)."
