Park Facilities
Pros:
"Great park with lots of space. Playground has much to offer as well as tennis courts, beach volleyball and a large pond with lots of water fowl."
"The park includes a small wood, a large field, a small enclosed green, a boating lake with sailing building and compound, a bowling green with a pavilion, a mini golf course, beach volleyball courts, 10 floodlit professional standard tennis courts, 10 tarmac non-lit ones, two playgrounds for different age groups to enjoy, a running track with spectator stands and changing rooms, a cafe and a disused police station."
"With a lake to go canoeing or rafting; an enormous park to play any team sport that comes to mind; a playground and sand pit for children; eight tennis courts and two beach volleyball pits - what's not to love?"
"A park full of entertainment. From baby park to kids park. Splash pool, lake to feed birds, crazy golf, tennis courts, football green, athletic track, soft play, volleyball set up."
"For sports enthusiasts, Wimbledon Park offers a range of facilities, including tennis courts, football pitches, and a golf course."
"It's a great place for young children. There's a large playground with different activity frames for different ages and a 5x8m sandpit."
"A beautiful park in Wimbledon not far from the famous Tennis courts, there is an athletic stadium, tennis courts of course, and a lake to hire boats, canoes."
Cons:
"Barbeques are allowed in this park, which is great. The flip-side being that some people don't throw their post-bbq rubbish in the bin or even make an effort to extinguish their bbq's, leaving their trash behind."
"80% of the park is private or closed and you will just have access to a field with people walking their dogs or jogging around."
"The climbing walls are closed."
"The cafe is expensive and the mini golf is over priced for not being very well maintained at all."
"Can be quite messy sometimes because of overflowing bins and rubbish, avoid at Wimbledon Tennis Championship times for obvious reasons."
"The children's playground had a bit of a urine smell in spots."
"Was spoken to very rudely by a groundsman who was driving what looks like an oversized dodgem car, hard courts are totally worn out, holes in the nets uneven surface, overpriced."
Accessibility & Parking
Pros:
"The street leading to the park has free off-street parking after 8:30pm."
"Ample parking available for vehicles."
"On weekends you can park cars in nearby residential area."
"Parking spaces is limited but parking is free."
"Two car parks, depending on what entrance you come from."
"Taking the tube to Wimbledon park station and a short 10 minute walk brings you to one end of the park."
"Adjacent to a private golf course and Wimbledon tennis grounds. 5 minutes walk from Southfields underground station."
Cons:
"The queue was very unorganized. We came back home after 5 hours of waiting to get inside."
"If you plan a visit dont go to the Wimbledon Park tube station as it is very far away in fact."
"The park did not seem to be as easily accessible as initially thought!"
"First time visiting here. Didn't think parking would be as bad as it was, with the car park being closed to vehicles, possibly because it was full."
"Parking can be bad, so I'd recommend walking there if you can, or get public transport."
"Brilliant park for your children, lovely cafe, paddling pool, only down side is the parking on the road, you can't see the single lines, so unfortunately we got a ticket."
"Nice park very open to the elements though."
Atmosphere & Environment
Pros:
"It's such a lovely, large and well kept park, with a happy atmosphere."
"Very lovely park! My daughter always enjoys riding her bike around and getting on the playground."
"The lake and birds - so beautiful and peaceful."
"Swans gracefully glide across the water, adding a touch of tranquility."
"Beautiful spot full of flowers and trees."
"Very quiet and peaceful after 5pm though and on weekday evenings."
"Calm and clean. Lot of children's play area."
Cons:
"We took our 2 granddaughters to this park today... there were hardly any benches for the grown ups to sit on so we could keep an eye on the kids in comfort."
"The lake is great, but not completely accessible from all sides."
"The pond could do with some railings as my six month old puppy nearly fell in trying to get lose bread that people are feeding to the ducks."
"Muddy in some areas of grass but very open and has clean pathways."
"You always bump into some kind of barrier."
"For the park in general, the toilets facilities are always dirty and smelly, they should have staff looking after it during summer days - it's by the playground where everyone gets wet."
"Quite poorly designed and overly groomed park compared to other London parks of that size."
