Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The fried squid is nice. The Focaccia is better any other an Italian restaurant."
  • "The sea bass was not to my taste, it was served with runny egg which I don’t think worked at all."
  • "The roasted aged beef is awesome!!"
  • "The fish and chips, the chicken burger and squid starter was also tasty."
  • "Sunday roast is amazing (especially the vegan option which includes a Yorkshire pudding)."
  • "The Chicken Kiev is to die for and the Quince jelly on the cheeseboard was the best I've ever tasted."

Cons:

  • "It's upsetting they stopped serving the vegan burger though."
  • "My friend found the pork chewy and the crackling wasn't crispy so she will choose something else next time."
  • "The sea bass was not to my taste, it was served with runny egg which I don’t think worked at all."
  • "I ordered a roasted squash and the plate was just embarrassing. The roasted squash was not roasted, it was boiled and very watery."
  • "The vegan roast was delicious, as was the beer special as recommended by the waiter."
  • "The food was fine but they hired the worst rudest possible waitress."

Service

Pros:

  • "Seriously enjoyed this place... all of the staff were friendly and welcoming."
  • "Staff friendly but food wasn't great."
  • "The service was very quick and polite."
  • "The staff were friendly, helpful when asked, which is great to see."
  • "My waiter Norbert was very attentive and recommended several dishes and drinks to try."
  • "The staff were all smiling and energised and also trusted me to nip out to get cash as the card machine wasn't working."

Cons:

  • "Not sure why it took around an hour to get the cold roast delivered to our table."
  • "He blatantly ignored me, then brought me my food with a sneer."
  • "The waitstaff might not be the best as they seemingly look disinterested in being at the job most times."
  • "The service previously has been either too on-point, or today non-existent."
  • "The service started off well, however as the evening progressed it went downhill."
  • "Despite the place being empty, it seemed like they had forgotten about me or simply did not have an interest in serving."

Pricing

Pros:

  • "Prices are very very good for the location."
  • "The prices are reasonable for London but could be cheaper considering the being in one of the poorest boroughs of London."
  • "The food was also nice, has a good enough selection for most palettes."
  • "Decent place, nice vibe.. service was good the steak was lovely had a charcoal tinge."
  • "Good food, decent drinks list."
  • "Very good!! We have been there in a group with 12 people, and the food and drink was great, as soon the service was very kind and great."

Cons:

  • "The place is known for being expensive, prices are higher even compared to Central London."
  • "Wish the prices were a bit more generous. It’s understandable that it’s only place to drink in area but for sure it will attract more people."
  • "8 pounds for a beer... Not sure I can't find more expensive in London city."
  • "£20 price tag is just too much for such a poor roast and service."
  • "They charged me £29 for two pints and ice cream."
  • "It's probably the most expensive pub I have ever been to, with a simple burger and chips costing nearly £14."

Ambiance

Pros:

  • "A lovely mix of pub vibes but with a chic twist."
  • "The pub is very homely and relaxing. Spent a couple of hours there and ordered the Cobble Lane charcuterie for 2."
  • "Great space and ambience in a fab location."
  • "Great location down on royal wharf, outdoor seating meant we had a lovely view of the river."
  • "This is a very modern pub with nice and relaxed ambiance."
  • "The place itself was nice, had a modern look and feel inside and out, seating on the ground and second floor but outside too."

Cons:

  • "Second floor is always closed unless first is full (big minus)."
  • "The patio is great but without the heaters you can't really use it on colder days which is a shame."
  • "A very disappointing first experience here, and a venue we won’t be returning to in a hurry."
  • "Attractive clean, modern venue in a prime riverside spot. Quite well organised to provide service in spite of the COV19 challenges."
  • "Very comfy setting.. service was great.. anti covid procedures.. hmm half and half.. no social distancing with seating arrangements."
  • "Typical pub fare, a bit pretentious and at circa £25 a head not good value."
