Experience and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Enjoyed our experience here, luckily it wasn't very busy when we went."
  • "The environment was just amazing. There are 3 levels, with rooms leading into other small rooms."
  • "The building is also haunted (no surprise there), and you'll often find spooky footage of unexplained goings-on shared across the museum's socials media."
  • "Absolutely loved my visit here! Small museum under a pub and curiosity shop, but it's filled to the brim with artifacts and exhibits!"
  • "If you love ghosts, the paranormal, Halloween, horror stories and movies ... This place is definitely for you."

Cons:

  • "It's a complete rip-off - mostly a series of tiny rooms full of corny props from a Halloween sale and some used dolls on strings."
  • "This is a lovely atmospheric museum and a real hidden gem in Nottingham, but there wasn't a huge amount of space to move around."
  • "We had a great afternoon taken around the haunted museum by the lovely lady with blonde hair but everything has a story and this building is amazing in itself."
  • "Not impressed with this place at all a lot of the history seems made up to me."
  • "Being gullible is a bonus πŸ˜….. we couldn't help but feel that we were just being shown around a dilapidated building that they couldn't afford to fix up, full of car boot goodies."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The service provided was brilliant, and very informative."
  • "The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to ensure we were OK and getting the most from our visit."
  • "The staff Andy, Cat, and Michaela were very welcoming and reassuring, with endless knowledge of the museum and the displays inside."
  • "Really friendly and knowledgeable tour guides. If you’re a fan of haunted houses, ghost stories, and all that spookiness then definitely check it out."
  • "The staff are great to chat to about the happenings in the store."

Cons:

  • "All the 'artifacts' have badly written stories about them, rife with spelling and grammar errors, they could have been written by a child."
  • "Needs to be a bit more staff interaction rather than just letting people look around and then go."
  • "I am however going to knock a star off because there wasn't a huge amount of space to move around meaning a lot of time was spent waiting to read the next exhibit."
  • "Not impressed with this place at all a lot of the history seems made up to me and when I asked tour guides for more information on items it could not be provided."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "For Β£8, it is great value for money. In fact, I would have quite happily paid a bit more."
  • "With an Β£8 per person entrance fee, it was good value for money as there was lots to see and lots of information to read about the haunted items."
  • "Had a great time here last weekend, Β£8 per person which I thought was very reasonable given the amount of stuff there was to see!"
  • "An incredibly reasonable price, really entertaining and leave you wanting to visit again."
  • "A memorable experience, I went feeling sceptical about there actually being haunted items, but I did have 3 experiences here that made me question my scepticism."

Cons:

  • "It's a complete rip-off - The Β£8 entry price is ridiculous for what's in there."
  • "A bit pricey for the experience but the staff were very nice."
  • "Good stuff and collection inside, not very spooky as such, overpriced for saying it is done in around 20 mins."
  • "The quality of the museum and the general credibility of objects was a let down. Maybe fun for some, I surely wouldn't recommend for the Β£7 entry fee."
  • "Not impressed with this place at all a lot of the history seems made up to me and when I asked tour guides for more information on items it could not be provided also a bit pricey for what you receive."

Accessibility and Facilities

Pros:

  • "Home to thousands of haunted artefacts and oddities, The Haunted Museum in Nottingham is a paranormal paradise."
  • "Absolutely loved it! Will be going again in the near future. Owner I met is lovely."
  • "If you have limited mobility or use a wheelchair this isn't the place for you. The museum is located across a number of floors in an old building and caves."
  • "Really friendly and helpful staff too. I have a double pram and the side gate was opened for me so I didn't have to use the stairs which was really nice."
  • "Wonderful location full of mysterious little rooms and corridors that can be visited on the tour, and really friendly staff/guides that know about the history of the building, the objects within the museum and the supernatural."

Cons:

  • "If you have limited mobility or use a wheelchair this isn't the place for you. The museum is located across a number of floors in an old building and caves."
  • "The sign says free entry but that's only into the foyer - you can enjoy a cuppa and watch the webcams but if you want to go around the museum you have to pay for a tour."
  • "Not a lot to say about this place really.. I only went in for a cup of tea which was prices cheaply.. we couldn't do the tour( at Β£7 each )because we didn't have any cash."
  • "It's just a shame that it's not disability-friendly, I had to go without my wheelchair which was a huge struggle and I will be in lots of pain for the next week, but it I have to admit it was worth it !! But there must be many paranormal fans who can't forgo their wheelchairs who are sadly missing out."
  • "The stairs on the tour might be an issue for those with mobility limitations."
