  • "It was definitely a great day spent together! 'Highly Recommended'"

Cons:

  • "Most disappointing was the penguin show, which was purely descriptive and unimaginative."
  • "Came here in February and had a very underwhelming experience for the zoo of such a massive city like London."
  • "We could not believe how bad this experience was. Even if it was free, we would not visit this zoo again."
  • "It was disappointing, to say the least; as so many animals were not in their habitats."
  • "Overpriced, neglected zoo.. poorly laid out, it was hours of trying to ‘spot the animal’."
  • "Was quite disappointed today sadly as last time we visited it was great."
  • "Just ok visit to London Zoo."

Animal Enclosures and Welfare

Pros:

  • "The animals have fairly big enclosures, and some even with cohabitating species (i.e. Wallabies and Emu's)."
  • "The animals are WELL taken care of!"
  • "All appeared healthy and happy in their enclosures."
  • "The animals all seemed happy and had very thoughtful environments."
  • "The animals are well kept, great habitats."
  • "The spacious enclosures looked natural."
  • "The animals are kept in conditions that are very close to their natural habitat."

Cons:

  • "Despite the very beautiful and well-groomed territory of the zoo, it seemed to me that there were not enough animals there."
  • "Some enclosures are a little on the small side for the animals that live there, such as the lions for example."
  • "The animal enclosures are a mess with no enrichment for them to enjoy and everywhere is in need of maintenance/repair/revamp."
  • "The Gorilla, tiger, lion cages are just upsetting."
  • "However, the gorillas to me looked very depressed, and were enclosed in a small area."
  • "Some areas seemed a little sparse…(as in a lack of animals)."
  • "Animals on the whole look happy but habitat seems so very small."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "If you get UC you get tickets for £5-£3, such a helpful thing for people."
  • "Such a great zoo and experience... we have a membership which is such great value and a perfect day or few hours in the oasis and calm of so many amazing creatures and the wonderful team at ZSL."
  • "Although on the face of it, it may seem overpriced, take advantage of National Rail 241 offer."
  • "We used the £3 deal. We are thankful to the zoo for offering this deal during halfterm."
  • "Universal credit tickets were only £19 per family."
  • "We got 2-4-1 tickets via the days out website. We spent 6 hours in the zoo. Great value for money."
  • "Definitely affordable for a great day out (especially if you bring your own food and drinks)."

Cons:

  • "Also I think the price is too high."
  • "The prices for the restaurant inside the zoo is insane for hot food that don’t even taste good."
  • "The lunch hall is very overpriced around £14 for a basic cheese burger."
  • "This day out is an expensive one however as the zoo is very small compared to other zoos I have visited and they are charging the same price."
  • "The price per ticket is too much compare to what it offers and possibly the management might consider adjusting the prices in the future."
  • "Tickets were expensive and we felt disappointed that many of the exhibitions were empty and/or under some work."
  • "For us it was overpriced drinks and overpriced street food."

Facilities and Amenities

Pros:

  • "Excellent amenities including cafes and toilets."
  • "The whole area of the zoo is well-kept, mostly accessible and easily walkable."
  • "They have water fountains, so you can fill up your water bottle anytime."
  • "There's also plenty of toilet facilities, and places to sit if the need to arises."
  • "There are plenty of areas to sit down across the zoo and restrooms situated at various areas of the park so you're only a short walk away when needed."
  • "There's clean toilets everywhere, parking is paid unless for disabled parking."
  • "Facilities are clean and well maintained."

Cons:

  • "When I went, even though it was on an off peak Monday there was no room in the luggage locker and all the large lockers were taken by people using them for their back packs."
  • "A few of the buildings look like they need some work and a few areas closed on our visit due to works."
  • "The toilets are a bit rough with loads of kids using them but at least there are plenty around the grounds."
  • "Huge queues to get into the zoo shop."
  • "The food choice was fairly poor for people just wanting a small healthy lunch not a massive creamy sandwich or hot fried meal."
  • "It would have been good if more food and drink places were open around the zoo, many were closed."
  • "Just my opinion, but the children on scooters were a nightmare running into people."
