Fresh Produce Quality
Pros:
Absolutely amazing for getting some fresh fruits and vegetables.
The prices here are very competitive, what's more, I would rather call them cheap, especially if I take into consideration the high quality, size and taste of the products that can be found here.
Plenty of fresh produce and great value compared to any supermarket around.
Cons:
The quality of the fruit and veg is dubious and can't compete with Aldi etc.
Market Atmosphere
Pros:
The market itself is amazing with all the fresh produce and an exceptionally brilliant way to save money and get your groceries cheaper than your local supermarket.
Nice market, reasonably sized, some good stalls to get your five a day and the people who run the place is polite.
Cons:
It looks like it might have been a more impressive place in the past and is now a shadow of its former self.
9.15 on a Friday morning Leicester Market used to be bustling with excitement, with stall holders competing with each other and shouting their special offers to attract attention. Today there was no atmosphere, 2/3 of stalls empty.
Market Variety
Pros:
Multiple options and varieties available.
From carpets to bananas, from novelty tobacco tin boxes with weed leaves painted on them to vintage Nintendo games, name it you can buy it here.
Cons:
Not much variety beyond fruit and vegetables.
Market Value
Pros:
You can get 2 bags of fruits from £1.50, which is great value for money.
You can get fresh fruit and vegetables, birthday and other cards and wrapping paper.
Cons:
Prices are what you would expect in the current climate. Some cheap fruit/veg available.
Sometimes the owners r a bit of impatient/rude when busy.
Market Changes
Pros:
Also feels more natural and real compared to a supermarket.
They are planning on renovating this place to make it more attractive soon.
Cons:
The market used to be such a vibrant place.
Over the years this market has deteriorated beyond belief.
Customer Service
Pros:
The sellers were so friendly.
Also had lovely service from the hair accessory stall.
Cons:
When we was about to pay I realised I don’t have cash on me so I apologised and told the vendor that I realised I didn’t have any cash. He started swearing and angrily took the items back.
Variety of Stalls
Pros:
Great selection of fresh vegetables, meat and fish.
Very impressed with size and variety of stalls in this market.
Great for outdoor events especially if you want to take your doggy companions with you.
Fantastic place loads of fresh produce and other stalls.
A literal iconic Leicester legend, it is still the largest outdoor covered market in Europe.
Cons:
The covered market has a lot of tat shops catering for the worst habits of humans.
The general feel was one of neglect.
Smaller than the last time we visited this market.
This market was once famous but since all the changes the market is virtually non existent.
It's a shadow of its former self.
Quality of Produce
Pros:
Good quality fruit and veg at respectable prices.
The fruit sellers are the main reason I use the market. Fresh, reasonably priced, locally sourced produce.
Excellent place to do some shopping, some of them have great prices and some of them have great qualities.
The sight, the sounds and all the fresh produce brings the foodie out in me.
Cons:
Sometimes quality is not great.
The reduced cost fruit and veg goes rotten very quickly.
The fruit and vegetables are not quality at all.
The prices of the more common vegetables are 2-3 times that to be found in your local supermarket.
Atmosphere
Pros:
The people I saw in this market are very friendly.
Long live the market stalls, and stall holders, who sell fresh local produce.
Always a great selection of fruit & veg on sale.
Cons:
Not very nice people and very little is done to ensure the market is safer than usual.
Its a market. It was much more vibrant before Covid.
Very rude sellers.
Price and Value
Pros:
Prices are very competitive and the quality is superior to that of local supermarket chains.
Would get so much more here for your money than any supermarket and no doubt fresher!!
Brilliant for fresh fruit and veg, various other foodstuffs and a few other things like clothes, fabrics and smoking paraphernalia.
Cons:
The pitch cost is too expensive.
Prices of the more common vegetables are 2-3 times that to be found in your local supermarket.
Some of them have great prices and some of them have great qualities.
You can buy rotten fruits and vegetables without even noticing.
