Park Environment
Pros:
"Wonderful park and enjoy the walk through to forge dam where there is the best cafe ever."
"One of my favorite parks. Beautiful landscape, big open ground, old big trees, small ponds, magical environment."
"A little stream flows through the entire park with several species of birds and ducks."
"Large green space in a residential part of Sheffield about one mile from the city centre."
"The park is rich in greenery and very clean, also really good for children for its playground and right place for cycling."
"It's such a beautiful park. Am very jealous of the locals to have this close by."
"Lovely open park that's well used by locals, joggers, families, dog walkers, students- well everyone!"
Cons:
"Also feels very unsafe in terms of lack of social distancing to protect from Covid infection."
"All you could smell was people smoking weed."
"Very limited parking at the park and very tight on-street parking on the local residential roads."
"On hot days it can be very crowded."
"Lots of joggers, cyclists and people with dogs off leads making it very uncomfortable when with our 18 month old grandson."
"Neither the ice cream seller or the car park machine accepted cards."
"Unfortunately Endcliffe Park is known for having quite a few dodgy weirdos, which is an issue I've experienced first hand."
Cafe and Food
Pros:
"Cafe sells delicious cake and coffee with plenty of outside seating."
"Lovely cafe that sells the best sausage and bacon sandwiches ever."
"Also really enjoyed having a Cheesesteak sandwich at the local cafe, well worth a try if in the area!"
"Lovely cafe serving really delicious food, great vegan options too."
"The cafe is wonderful! Food is freshly cooked."
"The coffee shop serves good coffee and a good selection of sandwiches and jacket potato."
"The cafe has outdoor seating that serves a great selection of food, including vegan options - I recommend the flapjack!"
Cons:
"The public amenities on site were locked and not accessible."
"Little cafe (doesnt allow prams)."
"The cafe is very unfriendly massive sign outside saying no prams allowed."
"Over crowded. Men and women urinating behind the cafe."
"Only con was that the toilets needed more frequent checks and didn't have enough supplies."
"Toilets could have been cleaner and didn't have any tissue paper but otherwise, decent."
"Be aware it might be a wait in these circumstances as coffee machines only work at a certain rate!"
Facilities and Accessibility
Pros:
"There are adventure playgrounds at either end plus cafes, toilets, and a small fairground."
"This includes a disabled accessible swing and roundabout which is great to see."
"Great little spot there near the cafe for a picnic and public toilets accessible."
"A nice centrally located cafe adds more taste."
"Just right next to the cafe are toilets with baby changing tables and with an access for disabled people."
"This park has some disabled driver parking spots."
"Also Well suited for disabled who require moving around with their mobility scooter."
Cons:
"Public toilets need updating though!"
"Parking can be an issue when its busy... otherwise a very big park that holds events in summer."
"The one downside is parking in the area is a pain."
"Only downfall is parking isn't great. Most places may and display but could park up one of the sideboards opposite for free (if you can find a space)."
"Parking is on street so can be difficult at busy times."
"There's a little broken glass around the edges of the park so can't let little ones go free range just because they're in the park."
"Some equipment is a little aged and stiff, like the roundabout."
Memorials and Events
Pros:
"The USAAF B17 Flying Fortress 'Mi Amigo' crash of 1944 is commemorated with a nice memorial in the woodland area just behind the café."
"Visited the memorial for the B17 'mi amigo'. Well kept and respectful of the 10 strong crew who gave their lives."
"Was nice to see the memorial to the Mi Amigo - Tony's 10 which had been on the TV recently."
"Don't miss the beautifully maintained memorial for the WW2 plane crash of the American Mi Amigo flight."
"There is also a lovely little memorial to the USAF plane that crashed there during WWII."
"Came here along with thousands of others to witness a flypast of American planes to honour the lives of the ten airmen who lost their lives when their plane came down in the woods during the 2nd world war. What a wonderful tribute."
"FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE SPEAKING TO TONY AT THE MEMORIAL."
Cons:
"Can be very busy though so beware, as around the cafe, paths, field, and playground there's not much distancing room."
"But if you're wanting some peace and quiet, this isn't the place for you!"
"Generally a nice park, but can be a bit of a battle between families with kids, cyclists and dog walkers."
"Too much open space, excellent dogs. My comrade saw a group of lads playing 'spike ball'. Since she had been wanting to try this game for a while, after 10 mins she worked up the courage to go ask if she could join, regrettably they declined, saying it was a 'very serious game'. Alienating group of people, but not sure what I feel the park should do about it."
"It loses one star due to most dog owners allowing their dogs to run around and up to small children."
"However it is very muddy off the main path and has suffered catastrophic loss of greenery because of excessive rain. Mud is prevalent."
"If you’re going to write a horror story, it’s best to write it in the past. Endcliffe Park is a perfect setting for a horror story. It’s a place where the dead live, and it’s a place where the living can be killed by the living."
