Food Quality

Pros:

  • "One of the best breakfasts I've had in while."
  • "Best lasagne I have ever tasted food was amazing."
  • "The food... Just wow, absolutely effing delicious!"
  • "All meals were excellent. Really tasty, and good value."
  • "Very tasty food (best full English!), can add allllll the extras."
  • "The vegetarian lasagne was sooo good!"
  • "The food was just fantastic!"

Cons:

  • "Visited in November, the menu advertises vegan but infect items are cooked with meat produce so I was limited what I could have. So a little disappointed."
  • "They seemed a little unprepared for a group of 9 ordering breakfast."
  • "Would’ve been 4 stars but they literally rushed our starters within 20 minutes and then 5 minutes later mains were out."
  • "But both were bland the stack just stodgy and tasteless and the curried cauliflower just warm and under seasoned we were both very disappointed."
  • "Prawns overcooked."
  • "The food was ok but feel could have put a bit of salad and maybe garlic bread with the lasagne as getting just a square of lasagne for £12.95 seems very expensive for what looks like a left over snack."
  • "A very mediocre breakfast and not particularly delicious cappuccino."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were perfect, very friendly and attentive."
  • "Staff were very friendly too."
  • "The staff were wonderfully friendly."
  • "The staff were really friendly and helpful."
  • "Really friendly and accomodating staff, made me the tallest whipped cream tower on my hot chocolate you have ever seen!"
  • "The staff were attentive."
  • "Staff couldn't have been more lovely."

Cons:

  • "Had the smallest bacon sandwich I have ever bought, unfortunately it was over £5.00 and had to pay on top of the price 30p for the privilege, when I said to waitress about size of it to a normal sandwich, she wasn't bothered and said food prices gone up."
  • "I wouldn't order the same drinks again."
  • "Waited 45 mins for breakfast, turns out it didn’t go through to the kitchen."
  • "Service variable - some staff great and accommodating - others terrible."
  • "The food was fine, but I could have done without the big sigh when I decided not to give a tip."
  • "The only criticism i would make is in relation to the wooden board which was used to serve my food."
  • "Very overpriced breakfast as the potions were so small."

Atmosphere and Decor

Pros:

  • "Decor is always lovely too."
  • "The courtyard is an oasis."
  • "Love the fact that this is an independent restaurant with a strong sense of its Italian heritage in the decor."
  • "The atmosphere was great."
  • "Good atmosphere and variety of tasty food."
  • "The deco and atmosphere is great."
  • "This is an atmospheric little family-owned restaurant in the centre of Chester."

Cons:

  • "Atmosphere wasn't great. It was a Saturday night on a race weekend and we were about the only group in there."
  • "Gluten free options poor."
  • "There weren't too many vegan options on our visit."
  • "Sadly there was no room in their courtyard so can't comment on that."
  • "Also full of cook books which I loved flicking through whilst waiting for my food."
  • "The only slight criticism however is the ketchup bottles which are glass with too narrow a neck to get a knife into so therefore the sauce can be quite difficult to get out onto the plate."
  • "Chips are not gluten free if they’re not cooked in a gluten free fryer and should not be advertised as such as they could make someone incredibly sick."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Prices are about 8-12£."
  • "Food was excellent and sensibly priced."
  • "Really great food and drinks. Had a delicious miso burger and some interesting and tasty drinks at reasonable prices."
  • "I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a reasonably priced and excellent quality meal."
  • "Reasonable price."
  • "The food was tasty and reasonably priced and the staff couldn't do enough for us."
  • "Great food, great prices."

Cons:

  • "A bottle of Coke for over £3, is a little steep."
  • "Its a bit expensive especially for extras- £1 for a round of black pudding and a further £1 for a standard potato scone."
  • "Starters were a little expensive for the size of them."
  • "Only reason not to get full 5 stars is the price. £2.80 for 2 slices of toast without any butter or jam!"
  • "Food - Overpriced for what the quality was. Chicken burger was amazing as a main but the Prawns/Pork Pate/Ceaser Salad were overpriced."
  • "Costs a bit more than a lot of places in Chester but everything is really good quality so I think it's worth it."
  • "We were expecting much more given the fairly high prices for a veggie meal."
