  • "The food really looked and tasted as if it had been made with care using quality ingredients."

Cons:

  • "Simultaneously the most expensive and worst cooked full English I've ever had."
  • "LITERALLY AWFUL. Came for brekkie and it was so expensive but all frozen food!! My fried eggs were literally like paste and inedible."
  • "The food is nothing like the description and very bad quality."
  • "Their egg florentine is disgusting."
  • "The food wasn't great and took a fair amount of time."
  • "The food? I had corn fritters. Sounded tasty on the menu. It was 3 small undercooked pancakes with sweetcorn in."
  • "The food was poor quality and not hot."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service was good, though."
  • "Superb service! Food was ordered and delivered within 5 mins."
  • "I visited today and everything was amazing, the food came out so quickly and was very nice and the service was so efficient and quick."
  • "Considering how busy Gatwick was and Grain Store was very popular the service was quite excellent (Thanks especially to Ben our waiter who was extremely attentive)."
  • "Best of all, the staff are lovely - friendly, smiley and polite."
  • "Service is generally quick and friendly; partner with Priority Pass so quite handy alternative when the lounge is full."
  • "The service however was quick and pleasant."

Cons:

  • "I have just sat here for over 40mins, having asked twice for the young girl at the front desk to take my order."
  • "Raw sausages complained and sent them back, assistant supervisor (Eastern European lady) extremely rude!! She Actually swore at my daughter in front of my 9 year old grandson!!!"
  • "Rude staff. Went to the counter, ordered and paid for a croque and coffee, then proceeded to make my way to an empty table (restaurant ~10% full). Soon as I sat down a waitress was screaming at me."
  • "Waited ages for the bill. No 'thank you', no 'how was your meal'."
  • "Service extremely slow."
  • "Not very happy with payment (we split the bill), and was told halfway, we have to pay the automatic 10% tips it in full."
  • "They served 3 other tables that came after me before finally one of the waiter came to take my order!"

Ambiance and Facilities

Pros:

  • "A few of the tables even have a place to charge!"
  • "Do yourself a favour and make your way upstairs, plenty of space and they have all the airport facilities you would expect (screens, charging ports / points etc)."
  • "Nice atmosphere inside. Not too noisy."
  • "Gatwick ranks high on claustrophobia with its low ceilings and huge crowds. The Grain Store is a welcome antidote. Pleasant room with very polite and attentive staff."
  • "Considering it was a busy period at peak season, this place was relatively calm."
  • "The restaurant is well lit and stylish."
  • "Such a nice treat to go and visit this little gem in the South Terminal Departure Lounge at Gatwick Airport."

Cons:

  • "It was very quiet but most of the tables weren’t cleaned."
  • "Another thing the floor was too dirty to put down our backpacks."
  • "The restaurant... still felt dark due to lack of natural light entering."
  • "The place was empty, and there was a queue that was around 1h."
  • "On top of everything this place is absolutely dirty, menu had pieces of food stick on it."
  • "There is too much hustle and bustle in the busy restaurant with people eagerly awaiting their departure."
  • "The queue was long and half the restaurant was empty."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The food was VERY good!! Prices not bad for an airport."
  • "I don't think I would have been willing to pay the full price of £17.35 for it, but as I got £15 off with Priority Pass I was very happy."
  • "Good food at a good price (even better if you have Priority Pass)."
  • "Good food, fair price for an airport."
  • "Food was tasty, served quickly, and reasonably priced."
  • "The price was decent enough (especially for an airport!)."
  • "Decently priced food in an otherwise very busy Gatwick airport."

Cons:

  • "Price is a bit much. Probably double the cost as what a dish would cost you outside of the airport."
  • "Cup of tea costing £3.20 - I’ll leave that there."
  • "What I was not really impressed by was the high price for a reasonably tiny portion... just 3 slices making up together a whole slice of a toast with what could have been 1 avocado and some drops of olive oil... really not impressed by that."
  • "At £19.50 this is a rip off!"
  • "A 10% service charge is applied to your bill and if you scanned the QR code it asks you to leave a tip even without having received any service/food."
  • "The total bill came to £20 which I think is way overpriced."
  • "Service charge is included in the bill automatically, without any indication as to what percentage addition this is."
