Product Range and Selection

Pros:

  • "Wide range of merchandise! very neat store too."
  • "The excellent and extensive range of comic books, games and collectibles means you could spend a few hours in here just looking at cool awesome stuff!"
  • "A good selection of all sorts from MTG card packs to dive and figurines for DnD, to literal comic books and manga, collectible art books some of which are hard to find."
  • "Anything you could think of comic/tv/movie wise is here: t shirts, posters, statues, comic books, trading cards, pop vinyls, everything; all at reasonable prices as well."
  • "This place is an absolute gold mine for anything from pop vinyl to comics!"
  • "Massive variety of items, including pop funko figures, loungefly bags, and downstairs, has a massive anime and manga section."
  • "Good variety of merch (shirts, hats, trinket furniture), figures (Pop Vinyl, Youtooz, Anime Heroes, etc) and books (comics, manga, encyclopedias) across the 2 floors."

Cons:

  • "Not much in range of manga in my opinion and the same with anime figures."
  • "Definitely not one of the best stocked Forbidden Planets I've been to (Belfast and London), there was more books and Funko Pops than comics unfortunately."
  • "Their board game range seems to have been dramatically reduced of late, now barely fills two shelves and is an odd selection of titles, which is a little disappointing."
  • "Surprisingly a lack of Back to the Future and Supernatural stuff. Plenty for the Star Wars fans though."
  • "Shirt selection was a little limited however."
  • "Desperately small store with more Funko Pops than pretty much any other item of geek stock."
  • "Was gutted I couldn't find any Transformers gear last visit though!"

Staff and Customer Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are lovely and friendly and you can tell are passionate and interested in everything around them and will do what they can to help you out which makes the experience here even better."
  • "Very knowledgeable staff and a generally great comic/geek store and I can't recommend highly enough."
  • "Staff are super friendly, seem to love their job, chatty and helpful."
  • "Extremely friendly and helpful!"
  • "Friendly helpful staff as well."
  • "The staff are really friendly and helpful in person or on the phone."
  • "Superbly friendly and very helpful, they were very impressed with my sons spider-man trainers & ran downstairs to grab me a figure while I waited upstairs with my son and his buggy."

Cons:

  • "What a bunch of miserable and grumpy bastards downstairs, was just paid and about to spend like a drunken sailor but they wouldn't help me find one comic."
  • "Nice to visit but I wouldn't rate the staff as being knowledgeable, when questioned about comics that were not on the shelf the only answer given was 'not in print.'"
  • "Very patronising to my friends and I as we were shopping."
  • "Staff can be a bit hit and miss on recommendations if you don't know what you're after."
  • "The personal mostly don't seem to interested in approaching customers and finish their chat first before serving."
  • "The guy with long grey hair that works here that's always wearing a bandana is the rudest person in a customer based role I have ever seen."
  • "No need for how rude the female shop assistant is with the short bleached hair."

Store Layout and Accessibility

Pros:

  • "It's an interesting corner of the northern quarter to buy any geek-related thing."
  • "Everything is sectioned nicely and there's something for everyone."
  • "It's lit very well but has a darker colour scheme making it more cozy I find."
  • "The store has two floors densely packed with everything your inner geek needs."
  • "Upstairs is wheelchair friendly."

Cons:

  • "Layout of the store is very difficult to find what you want and made more of an issue when being restocked."
  • "Please be aware that the store is not disable friendly as there is no way for wheelchair users to gain access to the basement."
  • "Claims to have a wheelchair accessible entrance which is false."
  • "Books are in the basement, which is accessible via stairs, so no reading for you if you're wheelchair bound."
  • "The layout of the ground floor is claustrophobic and uninspiring, the aisles are so close to one another that you can't take in the stock."
  • "There is absolutely no space in here to use a wheelchair, and there are stairs going down to the second floor."
  • "The stairs to the lower ground make it impossible to look at the funkos at the bottom of the stairs without simultaneously blocking everyone who's coming downstairs from passing you!"

Pricing and Value

Pros:

  • "Some affordable while some very expensive but that is not down to the store, it is down to the manufacturer and supplier."
  • "Great store with loads of selections but there are some things that are severely overpriced."
  • "This place is amazing! It does the cheapest Pop! Vinyls in the UK, and they have a wide range of them."
  • "Pretty sure I got a funko for 2.99 which was essentially theft if you ask me but I don't set the prices."
  • "Great deals on manga, comics as well as action figures."

Cons:

  • "The only other downside is the price - always very expensive unless a sale is on and I've most often found the same item cheaper in Manchester."
  • "A bit pricey, but what can you do when everything is imported from the states."
  • "If you are cost sensitive everything stocked can usually be found for less online."
  • "However, as amazing their comic collection is, it is a bit expensive compared to places like Waterstones."
  • "Some items are a bit pricey compared to other places such as B&M selling a mystery mini for £4.99 and these selling for £14.99 but it’s only the odd item that’s like this, most is the same price as other stores!"
  • "Rather expensive."

Online Shopping Experience

Pros:

  • "They also have the online store so you can browse things they might not keep in store."

Cons:

  • "So, after visiting there shops I decided to try online, a week later SOME of my comics have shipped, some haven't, they keep taking part payments when they want to, no tracking numbers so I've no idea where or when it's arriving."
  • "Placed order back in November when the product was 'In stock'. Its now July and still haven't received the product."
