Park Facilities
Pros:
"There are some nice toilets and a coffee shop, which is very small but always basically and the walks are really quite nice."
"Good parking. Great kids playpark and indoor/outdoor cafe with good coffee and warm/cold sandwiches."
"Cheap parking to boot."
"Nice place for a walk and the food is greatly improved now that the canteen is under new management."
"They make a lovely hot chocolate, and the prices were decent too."
"Relaxing to walk in the beautiful woodlands, lake, great fit the kids....superb kids play area, grass to run in, quality (though pricey) cafe with tasty choices of ice cream, cookies and coffee."
"The south side of the park has the Grounds cafe that's got a few vegan options, tastes good, and is pretty reasonably priced - there's also a few seats overlooking one of the lakes!"
Cons:
"Most of the car park is gravel, so on a rainy day it is rather muddy."
"Unfortunately the children's play area is the worst around, totally outdated and seen better days."
"Gets muddy when it's rained."
"Parking is expensive so worth trying to park elsewhere and walk in."
"Very expensive car park (£3 for 2 hours) and the cafe is average."
"Noisy for a country park due to proximity of major road."
"Unfortunately, the highway is too close so the noise is terrible. On top of that part of the park smells like sewage."
Natural Environment
Pros:
"Milton country park is an amazing place to spend a day out with friends or family, there are multiple lakes full of fish, two parks, one of which has just been renovated so it is perfect for kids."
"Great place to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet. You can actually hear nothing but the birds singing in places."
"A lovely piece of wood- and wetlands with two large lakes and one small pond. Diverse wildlife, plenty of paths to walk."
"Absolutely loved this place when we visited! Lovely parkland and woods, and some beautiful lakes, with fantastic variety of water birds."
"The Country Park is a great place for a quiet walk away from traffic and manicured lawns."
"This is one of my favourite places in Cambridge, beautiful scenery hidden from the A14!"
"A lovely park close to North Cambridge which is natural, calm and peaceful."
Cons:
"Even if the park is beautiful with the lakes, the paths, the trees, and all this nature. It's not quiet at all. We can hear the highway very VERY intensely."
"Walking around the area was pleasant, however the vast lakes and steams were not visible for much of it as thick vegetation hindered the views."
"Water in lakes could be better, looks a little stagnant and murky."
"With traffic noise from the A14 and often the stench of the nearby waste water treatment plant (if you're lucky the wind is from the right direction), this is not my idea of a relaxing place to walk."
"A bit unkempt wetland with slight stinky feeling."
"It is a great park for spending time with families. Nice playground for children. However, it smells bad with winds from certain direction as it's next to a waster water treatment plant."
"A lovely place to visit but due to all the rain we have had recently it was extremely muddy with puddles everywhere."
Activities and Events
Pros:
"Really dog friendly, saw so many dogs around!"
"It is an excellent place for families to enjoy time together without having to spend a lot of money."
"Really great park! Most of the times there is always an event of some sort going on."
"Over 100 acres of woodland, grass and lakes with paths, play area, and cafe. Hosts frequent events including activity parties, private hire of woodland, campfires, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding, scout and guide groups, and a weekly parkrun and junior parkrun."
"They regularly hold events here, from plays to movie screenings, and there are often family events including sport on the lakes."
"Many people come for the parkrun and there are open-air theatre shows, food fairs and fun days."
"We had a great time there, booked a firepit spot for a birthday, which we all sat around after doing an hour and a half of fun paddleboarding in the lake."
Cons:
"The only downside was the runners who didn't look where they were going and nearly toppled our little one a couple of times."
"The last thing I wish to mention is that there seems to be nobody enforcing the rule that dogs should always be on the lead or NOT on the children's playground."
"It is quite disturbing to walk your nervous dog on their lead and come face-to-face with a large bouncy Labrador or such who is miles from their owner."
"Can be very busy, especially on nice days so not a great place for anxious or nervous dogs."
"This seems to be a place where covid rules are being broken. As different households meeting up which is against the law at the moment.. also the cafe reopening during the stay at home is a disgrace, which also sounds like a rule break. STAY AT HOME"
"Car payment machine constantly broken, so they expect you to visit a website to pay."
"Great to see loads of people utilising the park. Would be good if they provided parasol as the tables were in the sun and it was uncomfortable in the heat."
Accessibility and Convenience
Pros:
"A lovely big park with plenty of wild space for kids and dogs."
"Nice country park with good dog walks and plenty for children to do."
"Plenty of parking. Not too expensive."
"Pleasant place for a stroll and nice cafe."
"Despite driving through an unloved trading estate to the entrance this place is a real gem."
"Parking is not too expensive I think the money goes to the upkeep of the park so worth it."
"The play area for the kids is big enough."
Cons:
"Paths - mostly hard earth / natural paths so in wet weather can see it getting exceptionally muddy."
"Used to be good. Paths poor. Muddy puddles in bad weather."
"Parking - I thought parking fee was high personally, though my partner stated it was cheap parking according to cambridge parking prices (yet people still parked on the road for free) - parking machine does not accept cash, card only."
"Parking is on the higher side but reasonable for anything near Cambridge."
"The car park has plenty of spaces but is not free."
