Interior and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The Ivy Chichester is very stylish. Beautifully decorated, very colourful decor, everywhere you look there is something different."
  • "WELL..... Talk about stunning decor and 1930s style centre island cocktail bar."
  • "The stunning decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is very chilled."
  • "Great interior design, amazing atmosphere and really trendy bar."

Cons:

  • "The tables are tiny, and the people next to you are virtually seated with you."
  • "Tables are so close together as an example when getting into your seats you have to be conscious of not taking out anyone else’s food on the tables."
  • "The venue looks amazing and my food was great. But our meal was booked for 7pm and it was 7.30pm before we were introduced to our waiter and ordered drinks."
  • "The noise is awful and inconsistent with a lovely relaxing lunch or dinner."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service was professional and the rare balance of there when needed but not watching over your shoulder."
  • "The service was first class and we were made very welcome."
  • "Staff were very helpful, bringing extra butter (with the cheese and biscuits) when asked for, and no job was too much for them."
  • "Absolutely love this place. Food is superb and service has always been good."

Cons:

  • "The staff came across really rude, you could tell the older staff were talking down to the younger ones."
  • "Service was so slow apart from getting the bill."
  • "The food was nice but very small portions. You need to be on a diet or use to eating less if you want to dine there."
  • "The staff were efficient and very pleasant. Nothing was a problem and there were different options to suit the children."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The food was very good, we always get the zucchini shoestring fries which are great."
  • "The home made ginger beer was refreshing and delicious."
  • " The monkfish and prawn curry was very tasty and nicely presented."
  • "We both went for the slow-braised lamb & beef ragu and wide ribbon pasta served in a large bowl. It tasted delicious too."

Cons:

  • "The breakfast itself was disappointing the ingredients were nice except for the awful cheap frozen potato rosti."
  • "Chicken was so overdone you could tap the bottom like a piece of cardboard."
  • "The food is very highly priced for what it is (for example the rabbit and lobster pie was £33.95 and was tasteless)."
  • "The food was okay and the mozzarella starter sparkled with flavour, and the Asian salad looked as good as it tasted."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Considering the quality, atmosphere and great service it's worth paying the prices which are only a little more than other restaurants that are no where near as nice to eat."
  • "The food and the service were excellent. Lovely waiter- really likeable guy, dedicated and good at his job."
  • "Great food cooked fresh with great flavours. Went for special family birthday meal and everyone at table commented how much they enjoyed their food."
  • "Absolutely Everything I expected from The Ivy, nothing too much trouble and staff were very attentive and efficient."

Cons:

  • "The prices were a little high. Vegetables, chips etc were an additional £4.95. Small portions too."
  • "The food is very highly priced for what it is."
  • "Overpriced and overrated. The decor is amazing and the staff are brilliant but the menu is disappointing and the food distinctly average."
  • "I only fancied the Profiteroles for dessert but they serve them for four people to share £34. Why I don't know?"
