Food Quality

Pros:

  • "We totally love their food. You can tell this place serves authentic Korean food just by tasting their kimchi."
  • "Their service is very good and foods are tasty and a good portion."
  • "The taste of the food far exceeded expectations and was simply delicious!"
  • "Honestly the best Korean restaurant in town. They do not go overboard with the spice like the rest do and get the subtlety of each dish right."
  • "All the food tasted heavenly, very pleasing to the tastebuds."
  • "The food we ordered was delicious and you could really taste the quality of it!"
  • "Kimchi pancake was the best i’ve ever eaten it was so tasty."

Cons:

  • "The sirloin steak which was slightly on the dry side."
  • "I don’t like the seafood pancake and fried chicken here."
  • "The only thing I would say is that the fried chicken was not as crispy as I want them to be."
  • "The pork back soup was delicious, but there was not much meat in it and tiny for £18."
  • "The seafood stew, which just tasted like salty spicy water."
  • "The soup tasted like a hefty amount of pepper and not much else; the japchae was mostly onion."
  • "The fried chicken: we were so looking forward to it, but it was actively dry and incredibly tough to chew, even the dark meat pieces."

Service

Pros:

  • "Plus to Mr. Korean guy who speaks Tagalog really well and made us feel welcomed."
  • "Most importantly all Covid rules were very well followed and the premises were clean throughout - thumbs up, definitely recommend."
  • "Service was so great, and such a welcoming atmosphere."
  • "The staff take hygiene very seriously, so you can really trust them with your health."
  • "The service was fantastic! Small store but friendly service!"
  • "Service: superb, enthusiastic, and very friendly!"
  • "The staff are very friendly and helpful."

Cons:

  • "In my opinion, service is not good. The manager was seating and watching something. It made me uncomfortable."
  • "But not the chubby unfriendly korean waiter, who really put me off a bit with his unwelcome attitude."
  • "Yes, some might say that it is a good restaurant and the customer service was good, but it might be either because you’re a Korean or maybe a White British customer which they usually try to impress but other than that, expect a mediocre customer service from them."
  • "Only thing that let it down was the initial service as we had to ask to place our order for drinks after 25 minutes."
  • "The waitress at the door (white female) had a very bad attitude."
  • "The guy with curly hair at the counter, his attitude was SOOOO BAD, very rude."
  • "The manager is so rude on the phone. Words can’t express how rude he is."

Ambiance and Cleanliness

Pros:

  • "It's also quite busy and a bit of a squeeze, you should definitely look to book in advance as it's full a lot of the times."
  • "Tried several dishes here. Haemulpajeon, dolsotbibimbap, bbq, spicy rice cakes, and a couple more. All were decent and authentic. Quiet and cozy ambience +great location just behind the British museum."
  • "One of a handful of Korean restaurants scattered around the area, this is an unpretentious little restaurant, right by the British Museum. The stand out dishes were the sweet and crispy chilli fried chicken and the seafood pancake."
  • "Nice place - clean and not as cramped as other Korean places in the area."
  • "The place has a modern cafe feel to it."
  • "The restaurant itself was cozy and service was good."
  • "The restaurant is clean and well kept."

Cons:

  • "Service wise - table is very small - we ordered 4 dishes amongst 2 of us but there is barely enough space to put all the food and a plate."
  • "It really does affect the overall experience."
  • "Restaurant is a bit cramped so if you’re not used to crowded place this is not for you."
  • "Extremely cramped space - whilst eating I am not able to communicate properly to the person sitting opposite me as there are 2 other conversations going on next to us concurrently."
  • "The music was coming so loud from the tv and the staff were super distracted."
  • "The bathrooms were ok but not the cleanest."
  • "We visited Bi Won at around 9.30pm last Friday to find them busy but not full. We were shown to a table for 2, ordered, and soon after were asked if we would move to another table which was just big enough to seat two size 6 or smaller people."

  • "Its ok - but so overpriced its just not worth it."
  • "Also, portions were small and vegetables were mostly ONIONS. Please put actual vegetables not just onions as vegetables."
