Seating Comfort

Pros:

  • "Lovely small theatre, we were in the circle and had a great view of all of the stage."
  • "The seats were brilliant. We were sat in the end of row E in the stalls and had a great view."

  • "The seats were also very spacious and I had plenty room for my legs!"
  • "Comfy seats and good leg room. We had a great view from row C."

Cons:

  • "Just a word of warning if you get seats upstairs in the Circles, they can be a bit 'cosy' and people with long legs might be a wee bit uncomfortable."
  • "The seating in the upper circles is simply unacceptable."
  • "We had absolutely no leg room in the upper circle."
  • "The chairs were rather high for a petite person like myself so the seat wasn't very comfortable as a bit of my feet were hanging in the air."
  • "Other than the seats being on the small side and slightly uncomfortable, the theatre was a joy to visit."
  • "Moderately comfortable chairs. They were very long chairs so there was very little leg room."
  • "Seating is cramped and poorly laid out, your view is often blocked if you are sitting behind someone."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Staff met us and treated us like VIP's."
  • "The staff were very friendly."
  • "The staff could not have been more helpful. Even though there are stairs down to the auditorium, they used a chair lift thing to help me navigate them."
  • "The staff were all really helpful, polite and smiley."
  • "I was really impressed with how warm, welcoming and friendly the staff are."
  • "All the staff were lovely and exiting at the end was the easiest I've ever experienced."
  • "Staff are always friendly and helpful."

Cons:

  • "Was really shocked by the lack of Covid regulations."
  • "Only downside was on leaving the dress circle we were sent outside to an alleyway."
  • "Our only drawback was when we handed in some merchandise that had been left behind by a young family. The staff seemed as though they couldn't have cared less."
  • "The staff don't seem particularly happy to be there either."
  • "Door staff were extremely rude to me today."
  • "Staff were very pushy and didn't seem to communicate at all with one another."
  • "We had a very bad experience at the theatre, manager seem he had very little control and very little willingness to help with the situation."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "The lovely old Theatre was superb for an historical musical."
  • "Fabulous, intimate theatre."
  • "The theater is cozy."
  • "The theater is a grande dame, charmingly so."
  • "Gender neutral toilet available."
  • "There's a fairly spacious bar area on the upper floor."
  • "Lovely architecture..bar area ground floor large and gorgeous."

Cons:

  • "A lot of stairs to the top and the toilet situation (for the ladies anyway) could be better."
  • "Though the prices for drinks will make your eyes bleed."
  • "Small theatre but quaint. Not enough seating in bar areas and drinks were pricey."
  • "Toilet facilities are small and old-fashioned."
  • "Old building, small venue, small theatre, cramped toilets."

Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Easy to locate."
  • "Easily accessible by public transport with an opportunity for a bit of shopping and sightseeing."
  • "The theatre is well situated; easy to get to. The River Thames is a short walk away and there are some excellent eateries in the vicinity."
  • "Easiest method of access is via Charing Cross Station."
  • "Very central in heart of theatre land of London."
  • "Great performance, not too busy, wheelchair access."
  • "The nearest tube is Charing Cross, turn right as you come out of the theatre."

Cons:

  • "As far as I could see there is no lift so you need to be able to negotiate stairs to visit here."
  • "No social distancing. Packed in like sardines."
  • "I was shocked that there seemed no effort to remind the audience that it makes sense to wear masks still given the high rate of infection still in London."
  • "Because the corridor is not closed off from the public, there was a strong odour of urine, which was not very pleasant to say the least."
  • "While I'm sure there's wheelchair access, at least to the ground floor, it's certainly not easy."
  • "The wheelchair 'bay' is normal chair sized which does mean that once the wheelchair was in place, people had to get in and out of the row on the other side or climb over my mother."
  • "Venue was dire, due to seating not being sloped enough I only had a view of someone’s shoulders and head."
