Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The beef dish recommended to me was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten."
  • "Incredible place, incredible food and incredible staff."
  • "Then the best of all the food, is the best Italian food we've had in years."
  • "Perfect pizza and delicious gnocchi with beef ragu."
  • "Absolutely delicious food. I had the Gnocchi beef with dolcelatte and the pulled beef arancini with truffle Mayo, both dishes were immaculately presented."
  • "The food was great but exceptionally noisy very difficult to hear what what being said on our own table."
  • "Food was a amazing made us feel so welcome the staff and manager was always asking if our food was OK and if needed anything for the quality of the food the prices are low will definitely be returning as much as we can for more amazing food and drinks."
  • "Food all round was tasty and well presented."

Cons:

  • "I ordered the linguine pescatore for my main which was truly awful."
  • "A lovely building with excellent friendly attentive staff. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything to write home about!"
  • "Some of the best Italian food I have tasted, Peroni glasses in the fridge - brilliant touch and nothing is too much for the staff. Even opened up early for us for a corporate event last week. Well worth a visit"
  • "The worst Italian restaurant I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Only had a pizza and chips, how can you possibly get that so wrong and especially if it's one of your national dishes.!"
  • "Overpriced Italian Restaurant serving mediocre food at extortionate prices, won't be rushing back, won't be recommending to friends either."
  • "Good venue and will possibly return, 2 members of family agreed the lasagnia was mainly pasta sheets and far too much tomato and hardly any meat, which at the price (we spent over £100) was disappointing"
  • "Food was brilliant but the toilets were on 3 flights of stairs i think they should sort it and also a guy got my cocktail wrong was supposed to be amerretto and it was jack daniels, apart from that the experience."
  • "Asked for garlic bread with cheese a linguine bolognese which was on the menu £8 on menu and partner order another dish which was £7 pound."

Service

Pros:

  • "The service was impeccable."
  • "The place was packed but the staff were excellent - friendly and very efficient coping with orders."
  • "Our daughter had the fungi pizza, my good lady had the chicken with garlic cheese and vegetables and I had the chorizo chicken. I was a very happy man superb taste, spicy and so flavoursome."
  • "The restaurant has real charm & class about it; the staff are nicely dressed & polite."
  • "Without a doubt the nicest place to eat in Burnley. Food is always top quality and the staff are all lovely and helpful."
  • "When we arrived it took about 10 minutes to actually be seen to at the door."
  • "Me self and husband Simon came for a meal and they managed to squeeze us in as we hadn't booked. The service was amazing."
  • "Dropped in for a beer and a few snacks on way to train station home. We were welcomed in and the service was a very high level... kind and made you feel very welcome."

Cons:

  • "So, so disappointing. We went here a few years ago and did not have a good experience but thought we would try again."
  • "We visited today, the waiter was rude and the service wasn’t very good, the waitress was nice and friendly though!"
  • "We attended this evening for a 30th Birthday party. When we arrived they could not locate our booking and hadn’t set up our table."
  • "Service a bit slow once we had eaten was asked to move and then forgotten about had to keep asking for a drink!!!"
  • "We booked a table for 9pm on New Year’s Eve for a party of only 4, yet we were placed in the bar till 9.45 before being seated to a table."
  • "Atmosphere isn't what you would expect, it is basically a nightclub with food. Service is very poor and slow."
  • "On arrival there was nobody there to greet, the bar attendant avoided eye contact so we had to find someone ourself to seat us."
  • "Not busy but s...l...o...w... service... Staff pleasant but clueless. Waited an eternity to be offered drinks or a menu."

Ambiance

Pros:

  • "High ceilings, marble on walls, prosecco and gin bars and a propper wood fire pizza oven. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves."
  • "Just a fabulous place in every way. The look of the building outside and inside, this former bank is just excellent."
  • "Superb. Went into this beautiful building last week & it was one of the nicest meals I've had in a long time."
  • "Be prepared to pay a bit more than you might expect in Burnley but if you fancy treating yourself it's absolutely worth that bit extra."
  • "This an amazing place we visited by chance after a day out. Despite not being dressed up, we were welcomed and looked after by the owner."
  • "The decor is exceptional - a converted old bank - however the lack of soft furnishings anywhere meant the place was extremely noisy."
  • "The building inside is amazing, high ceilings and stylish decor."
  • "Absolutely wonderful place. Stunning old ex bank tastefully converted into a lovely restaurant."

Cons:

  • "The one disappointment is the tacky Burnley F.C attire around the restaurant."
  • "It was great to see a specific vegetarian menu as we are both vegetarian."
  • "The food was great but exceptionally noisy very difficult to hear what was being said on our own table."
  • "Food was really good, service was lovely, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The reason for only 3 stars is that they had a singer in and, although they were good, the speakers were turned up so loud we could barely hear each other speaking."
  • "Some of the best Italian food I have tasted, Peroni glasses in the fridge - brilliant touch and nothing is too much for the staff. Even opened up early for us for a corporate event last week. Well worth a visit"
  • "Lovely inside, but quite noisy. The food was nice, and reasonably priced, but the service was bad."
  • "The service started Well ..we had a four year old so we all got put in the corner in the lounge opposite the pizza oven .we were happy with that .comfy seats etc ....we ordered our food ..it never turned up so had to chase up twice......every waiter seem more concerned about working tables where people were drinking rather than the corner where we were eating ..I nearly resorted to clicking my fingers as we felt invisible ..I spent over £100 and it was my wifes birthday meal. ....disappointed really to say the least.. ..I'd heard good reports about the palazzo prior to this but not overly impressed .."
  • "On first impressions we were impressed. The layout and furnishing were pleasant although less being more it felt a little cold. A bit like our food. It didn't take long for us to realise its all surface and little depth or substance. The food was mediocre and two of the meals were rather cold. The service was slow even though it seemed to be a quiet night. When told about our general bad impression of some of the meals they were taken away abruptly and microwaved back into life?! All in all not what we expected. An expensive pretentious restaurant and one we will not retun to."
