Atmosphere & Ambience

Pros:

  • "Great atmosphere. Business template i wish was more common, the staff seem content with their situation and it shows."
  • "The whole place is vegan and the food is delicious."
  • "A wonderful relaxed, welcoming atmosphere."
  • "Wonderful atmosphere in one of Bristol's best-loved cafés."
  • "It's got such a friendly and welcoming vibe, friendly staff (volunteers, I believe), and the menu is just superb."
  • "The establishment is extremely friendly. Staff and customers."
  • "The atmosphere is lovely and the style of the place is 10/10 for me."

Cons:

  • "The most annoying part is that there’s an open kitchen, that clearly lacks a better extraction system, we could smell all the “burning” and cooking happening on the stove."
  • "The cafe is facing the sunset with no blinds in the windows so it got hot!"
  • "The seating which is rather odd as long benches which seat many people are not very good for single diners, or two friends."
  • "Its a bit noisy due to the hard walls I reckon.... if anybody has some spare acoustic ceiling baffles....this would be good place to put them."
  • "It feels slightly unoriginal."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The breakfast was very tasty and the coffee good."
  • "The banana milkshake was absolutely wonderful, I'd certainly go back for that."
  • "The food is fresh with a great range if ingredients and seasonings."
  • "It’s my first time trying a vegan burger and it’s soooo amazing!! Totally better and tastier than any other beef burger."
  • "Everything in this cafe is Vegan. As a non vegan I was dubious about how the food was going to taste but it was excellent."
  • "The food is delicious and especially the milkshake mint and chocolate."
  • "Absolutely FABULOUS food - and so wonderful to be able to take friends with all different dietary requirements to one place, no hassle."

Cons:

  • "Chocolate brownie was stale."
  • "The most annoying part is that there’s an open kitchen, that clearly lacks a better extraction system, we could smell all the “burning” and cooking happening on the stove."
  • "The only downside was the lack of a quality and functional extraction system, leading to an unsavoury smell of deep fried food."
  • "However, the vegan milkshake was not very good, tasted like flour."
  • "Personally I find the food here a little dry and tasteless, but that may have been what I chose."
  • "The burger I had was nice, but not great, I'm afraid."
  • "The cook doesn't know how to wash a Salad he also doesn't know how to smile and talk."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are all really friendly too."
  • "Staff were really lovely and friendly (especially impressive considering we were there a few minutes after opening!)."

  • "The staff were welcoming and funny."
  • "Very welcoming staff."

Cons:

  • "Friendly atmosphere but the slowest service you will find in Bristol."
  • "The service as others have commented is pretty awful, and you can be left waiting for ages with no explanation of what's going on."
  • "The staff can sometimes be a little rude or impatient."
  • "One of the worst places I've visited in Bristol. The staff were rude and unhelpful, clearly not wanting our custom."
  • "The main problem has been waiting between 30 mins to 1 hour for food and not being warned about the waiting time, for me this is too much."
  • "Service wise 1/5. Although the service men were extremely courteous. It took one hr for our food to arrive."
  • "Service is absurd. Queue was almost out the door and only one chef was working."

Value

Pros:

  • "This is no overpriced trendy trust fund project. This is a real working cafe run by real working people trying to make a difference."
  • "Great value as well. For two of us, we had two big breakfasts, plus a coffee and an orange juice each and it was only £30."
  • "All vegan food, reasonably priced, locally sourced food, workers co-op."
  • "You will never be disappointed especially for such a good price."
  • "Very ethical, great prices."
  • "Super affordable prices and friendly staff."
  • "The staff are lovely, and the prices are just right."

Cons:

  • "Taste wise 3/5. Price wise 2/5."
  • "Its not cheap but the produce is locally sourced, usually organic and the portions are huge."
  • "For a non-profit they seem pretty expensive too. £5 for milkshake..."
  • "Curly fries were 3.5£ barely had 4 pieces of chips."
  • "Paid for a chai latte £3,40 and it was more foam than the actual drink. Very expensive for what you get."
