Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Fantastic food, dependant on season and what has been caught that day."
  • "The crab was sweet, the lobster tender and perfumed with the sea."
  • "The food was amazing, so fresh and cooked to perfection, will definitely be eating here again."
  • "Best lobster I've had in a long time! Lots of really fresh, juicy meat."
  • "All the food we ordered was delicious and hot, the staff were friendly and polite."
  • "The food looked amazing and tasted even better!"
  • "The garlic and salt seasoning were to die for."

Cons:

  • "The pickled cockles which were supposedly fresh - had better out of a jar before!"
  • "Lobsters are small, not much meat on the standard half portion. Crab cakes were mainly potatoes, skinny fries were soggy."
  • "The lobster I ordered felt a bit over cooked and the sauce was very mustardy, totally covering the taste of meat."
  • "The ‘surf’ was basically non existent as well - the tiniest piece of lobster and even missing the claw which is the best bit!"
  • "The seafood was to die for, so tasty and with the salad leaves you feeling energized."
  • "Oysters weren't that great according to my friends. Dressed crab had quite a lot of brown meat."
  • "Ordered the seafood platter to share and was very disappointed when it arrived and it has all been over cooked."

Service

Pros:

  • "All the staff are so friendly! Elsie was our waitress and was really attentive and made us feel so welcome."
  • "Staff were extremely friendly and offered excellent service."

  • "Excellent service from booking and table until we left."

  • "Service was attentive, friendly and efficient; full credit to the front of house staff for creating a lovely ambience."

Cons:

  • "We were told that the chef had left early, and they were struggling to get meals out on time."
  • "However, believe it or not, before leaving, we have been given a rag and a spray bottle, and we have been asked to clean the table."
  • "Two incidents were a member of staff shouted at young children."
  • "Terribly unorganised! Arrived before 1pm and told we can only order in an hour as long as we don’t order lobster."
  • "Awful customer service to be made to feel like I was trying to get a free meal."
  • "When we complained, the young girl wasn't interested and didn't care."
  • "The welcome was poor, and the service was awful."

Atmosphere & Location

Pros:

  • "Very nice outside terrace and what looks like an outside bar which wasn’t open on our visit."
  • "Lovely seafood restaurant. We had to sit outside due to Covid restrictions, and the NE wind was bitterly cold, but the crab salad was superb."
  • "A great outlook of the fields and the North Sea from many of the tables."
  • "Fabulous location on cliff top, would have been looking out to sea except for a giant marquee blocking the view."
  • "This is a great little restaurant set in the stunning countryside of Norfolk."
  • "Really lovely bar & restaurant with a stunning garden just off the coast path accessible from various campsites in the area."
  • "An amazing setting. Beautiful views and delicious fresh food at reasonable prices."

Cons:

  • "The atmosphere was ruined by crying babies and kids running around the restaurant."
  • "It is pricey when the overall experience did not meet our expectations."
  • "The building is an odd design, which doesn't make the most of its coastal countryside location as most of the dining areas seemed to be without direct light or windows."
  • "Sat at a picnic table on the verandah, nothing offered to keep us warm."
  • "The downside (for me) was that our table was in a corner of the building with no windows."
  • "It was a bit noisy, we could hear the next table better than we could ourselves."
  • "The place was freezing. The front door was wedged open & the kitchen door open too so a gale coming through."
