  • "The mushroom broth was warm and comforting."
  • "Authentic udon noodles and delicious tonkatsu pork."

Cons:

  • "The Cold Udon with Hot Broth with Duck wasn’t the best."
  • "Both the soup and duck were a bit salty."
  • "The cured cod smelled and tasted rather disgusting."
  • "The noodles were almost uncooked and extremely hard."
  • "The Kamo (duck) Hot Udon in Hot Broth Β£16.5 - π™±πš˜πšπš‘ πšπš‘πšŽ πšœπš˜πšžπš™ πšŠπš—πš πšπšžπšŒπš” πš πšŽπš›πšŽ 𝚊 πš‹πš’πš πšœπšŠπš•πšπš’."
  • "The octopus tempura is delicious, but the portion size is insultingly small."
  • "The udon noodles is undercook !! Too hard to chew on."
  • "Udon was hard but not Al dente, my Kitsune was like tofu, not AGE, not seasoned at all."

Service

Pros:

  • "Staff were nice but could be a bit more attentive to the outdoor tables!"
  • "Very welcoming lady, very quick to assist."
  • "The staff were really friendly, which isn't a given nowadays."
  • "Amazing staff! We had varied opinions on the food."
  • "Very helpful service. Cozy space."
  • "Friendly welcoming service and atmosphere."
  • "The food was tasty and arrived promptly, although portions were small for the price."
  • "Had the duck and rice, and a beer, for Β£22! What was I thinking? I have not felt being this ripped off for so long! Honestly, this is the worse Japanese experience I have ever had! The service was poor, very pushy and arrogant, felt like they wanted to get rid of us ASAP. The food took a lifetime to arrive. The duck rice bowl.... came with a huge bowl of rice, a lot of it, with the smallest piece of duck I've seen. Thought I needed a microscope to find the meat. And I paid Β£12 for it! And we got stronger WiFi signal from next door! Seriously, if you want Japanese, go somewhere else. In fact, just don't go there at all. I'm currently searching for more food with my friend because I'm still hungry."

Cons:

  • "Staff were barely responsive, I raised my hand for about 5 minutes before anyone took notice."
  • "The service was incredibly disappointing as the waitress asked both my partner and me to change tables twice."
  • "Service was pathetic. I got moved from my table twice, without an apology."
  • "When I left London after 2 years living here. I had this place as one of my last meal. I took photos for the meal. But one of the bar tender warned me: no photos. No one wants your photo here."
  • "Staff and service has a long way to go: 2"
  • "The service and some small dishes were excellent but the quality of their main offer β€˜Udon’ was quite disappointing."
  • "Service was quick, they take Amex, there is free wifi, and bathrooms are clean"
  • "Food was good here but staff told us we had to vacate the table for other customers with no notice at one point, only to come back moments later to say we could stay where we were as the other customers had been seated elsewhere."

Price

Pros:

  • "Prawn tempura is very crispy and delicious also the beef meat is very soft and moist. Even though the price was a little bit unexpected for me but it is worth the money to try once in ur lifeπŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ»"
  • "The ambient and the staff of the place was lovely and great, service was fairly quick, even though that it was lunch rush hour (12:30) after 13:00 got really quiet. Buta Kasu-Miso which is thinly-sliced pork and kasu-miso, Gyudon which is slow braised beef and Yasai Kakiage Ten which is vegetable kakiage tempura and everything was delicious, decent portions and we both ate for Β£25 each"
  • "My new go to! Gone twice in 2 weeks. Food was stunning on both occasions. The prawn tempura and udon was just the absolute best. Staff was great - Emiliano on tempura station was super friendly, fast and knowledgable. Thanks Koya City - can't wait to come back again with more mates!"
  • "Really delicious food. We went later in the night and it took a while to be served. It was cold and we had the heaters on but they then came and said last orders and turned the heater off before we had our food. Good food but not great service."
  • "We went there on 26th April, around 8pm. We ordered, and about 5 minutes later were told there was no rice! how can a restaurant run out of rice? Either cook some more or go to one of the nearby shops and buy some. This is a staple of a restaurant like this, not some limited-run special."

Cons:

  • "The place was always a nice vibe but I have to say Β£70 for 2 People on some udon and side dishes with a pint of beer was more than any udon place in London."
  • "Over priced and tiny portions. The food let down."
  • "Just really overpriced."
  • "The only drawback is the cost, and the automatic addition of a 13.5% tip."
  • "Feels a teensy bit overpriced."
  • "Food: 3.5 the beef udon was overpowered by the shrimp paste they put in."
  • "Slight down side to Koya is that the price is slightly on the expensive side."
  • "The food is overpriced...we paid more than Β£36 for two very small noodle soups and some tea."
