Facilities

Pros:

  • "The shower block is by far the best I've seen, and used, with 10 toilets and showers - piping hot water was a lovely surprise!!"
  • "Brand new toilet/shower facilities, lovely garden areas and potted plants, excellent signage for toilets, site names, water etc and of course the resident friendly hens! πŸ“"
  • "Superb new amenities block with under floor heating."
  • "The site has a brand new toilet and shower block which are amazing a bit of luxury while camping."
  • "Toilets and showers are brand new. Hot water was always available."
  • "The facilities were excellent, it’s a modern shower block. The pot washing facilities were undercover in a room."
  • "Facilities are outstanding, new, contemporary, clean and everything has been thought of; even an outside place to wash dogs."

Cons:

  • "They spent a lot of money on the new facilities but they never felt very clean."
  • "The only gripe would be the grass needed mowing as it gets wet when longer."
  • "The gents toilet had a constant ammoniacal smell and the showers were pretty average."
  • "I never used the toilet block without toilet paper everywhere and there was always food left in the dish washing sinks."
  • "The water temperature on the showers was fixed and undoubtebly too hot."
  • "The water for the washing up area was rarely hot, especially on an evening."
  • "Hopefully they can sort out the mould on the ceiling."

Staff and Management

Pros:

  • "Can't praise Linda and her team enough for their sympathetic response. Customer service at its best along with a wonderful site."
  • "The staff were very helpful, even at pre-arrival."
  • "Linda was great when we arrived and came for a chat the following day."
  • "Owner very helpful, other half messaged to see if she had a bag of ice he could buy, a few minutes later her son (we think) arrived at our pitch with a tub of ice!!"
  • "The staff were professional. You only see them when you arrive, and are given directions to your pitch."
  • "Staff were very pleasant and friendly."
  • "The staff were very accommodating, any issue we had... and they went above and beyond for all our requests."

Cons:

  • "Linda has no knowledge of how some children may be neuro diverse and given the current climate how difficult it can be for families to get away for a few days she should not be so condescending."
  • "Linda’s manner was aggressive and patronising."
  • "Unfortunately a very rude member of staff answered that was unaccommodating and patronising."
  • "We were approached on our pitch by a lady not in uniform, no pleasantries or introduction and told that our children can't be running around after 9 pm and that they should be 'winding down'."
  • "Extremely rude staff and poor location."
  • "Do not stay if aged 25-30 as Linda will approach after it gets dark to take more money from you."
  • "Only to be TOLD OFF BY THE STAFF THAT THERE GROUPS ARE NOT ALLOWED AND WE SHOULDNT BE SITTING TOGETHER AND SHOULD NOT BE USING WOODEN TABLE WHICH WAS THERE ALREADY!"

Location and Views

Pros:

  • "The site is on the outskirts of Keswick with access to plenty of walks from the site."
  • "The views are second to none and are in all directions. Any photos do not do it justice!"
  • "The views from your pitch are enough to take your breath away."
  • "It's a beautiful site, nice and quiet with stunning views of its surroundings, great walks right on the doorstep and central to that area of the lakes."
  • "Beautiful views of Skiddaw and Blencathra from tent."
  • "Amazing scenery in the north of the lakes looking over Blencathra."
  • "The location was stunning with Skiddaw and Blencathra right in front of us."

Cons:

  • "The only downside is it's proximity to the A66 as you can hear the traffic."
  • "You can hear the bypass all night long. Non-stop traffic."
  • "The road immediately next to the campsite seems to be the locals main route for anything louder than a tractor."
  • "The road noise is constant, which spoilt the experience for us."
  • "This campsite is next to an extremely busy road so the rain together with the traffic noise would have made it hard to hear us."
  • "Field we were in unfortunately became a bit of a quagmire after 3 days of none stop rain and I honestly though the camper was going to get stuck."
  • "Disappointed. Greeted to bins over flowing which remained so for a while."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "By far not the cheapest in the area, but does make up for it in the quality of the pitches and now also added glamping pods which are unbelievably superior, but at a cost."
  • "The price okay too!"
  • "Cheap and cheerful so well worth a visit."
  • "The stay was enjoyable, from the reasonable prices to the amazing views surrounding the site."
  • "Reasonable prices."
  • "The hard-standing pitches are fully serviced (with Wi-fi!) but also come at a hefty price of 44Β£."
  • "Amenities on site fabulous. Clean and modern."

Cons:

  • "There were plenty of places you weren’t allowed to take your dog even though they charged for dogs."
  • "The price of the campfire kit was pretty costly."
  • "Very busy campsite and expensive for the services offered."
  • "The charging lockers were a bit expensive as well."
  • "Booked a stay here for this weekend a few months ago, but unfortunately got made redundant in September, so had to cancel... Not even a refund or partial refund for my deposit."
  • "Didn’t realise that we were not allowed to socialise due to excessive strict rules."
  • "No access to water in the second field so we had to walk up to the bathroom which was annoying as it was raining."
