Ambience and Decor

Pros:

  • "The decorations in the restaurant was amazing, make you relax and can enjoy good food."
  • "Ambience of the restaurant is really nice. It is like a laid back beach club within central London."
  • "A really beautiful restaurant with a stunning terrace area at the back with lots of plants."
  • "The Riviera Spritz I had was one of the best cocktails I’ve tasted - super complex and balanced and such lovely presentation."
  • "The room itself is beautifully decorated, our waiter could not have been nicer."

Cons:

  • "We were seated in the conservatory at the back. Space was cosy at first but way too dark!"
  • "Everyone was trying to use their phone to see the menu and what they actually eat! It's really not my standard."
  • "The whole ground floor smelled like an unflushed toilet."
  • "Music was a bit loud and tables were too close to each other."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were very friendly and helpful, we went there to celebrate a birthday and they helped us prepared the cake."
  • "Service was really good as well as they took time to explain the menu."
  • "The staff kind and smiling. Nice lunch."
  • "We had as a starter the chicken liver toast with watercress - great. The French green and white beans cooked to perfection- crisp with the right snap."
  • "Fantastic experience! Would recommend this restaurant any time."

Cons:

  • "Service was a bit too slow and inconsistent."
  • "The Bellini was grainy and not pleasant to drink."
  • "Service 2 star. From start to finish. The hostess forgot to inform me my table was ready."
  • "Warm bottled beer, tasteless burrata (burrata!), tasteless polenta, tasteless sweet potato."
  • "The only thing that left us with a bitter taste was that we had fish bones in the carpaccio."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The dishes are refreshing, I have not tried this type of food in that area yet, all the dishes are creative but with authentic and organic flavors."
  • "The food was absolutely delicious and in a beautiful space. It has amazing options for vegetarians or pescatarians."
  • "We were just passing by and hungry and Gold was the first restaurant we saw, so we had no expectations at all and got a great surprise! The food was all great, simple but made with high-quality ingredients and very tasty!"
  • "We had an amazing dinner here for my birthday. We had the burrata, feta salad, cabbage, and the chicken. I have to say the cabbage is out of this world!!"
  • "The food was really good. But really, the service quality was poor, unprofessional and close to be rude."

Cons:

  • "Food was good to average. Chargrilled corn 4/5, Mushroom on toast 4.5/5 - highlight of the lunch, Ravioli 2.5/5 - bland."
  • "Food is weird. Very strange flavours with every dish."
  • "The menu we had seen many times before around London in 'modern European' restaurants. The exception to this was the short rib ravioli dish, which stood out with its rich depth of flavour, leaving a lasting impression."
  • "The squid had a delicious sauce but the texture was not great, and the corn ribs was also average (again this is one were the sauce has the opportunity to wow) leaving us with with just some difficult to eat pieces of corn."
  • "Steak overdone, patatas too salty and soggy."

Price and Value

Pros:

  • "The Gold in Notting Hill boasts delicious offerings that tantalize the taste buds. The culinary experience is top-notch, though it leans a bit on the expensive side."
  • "Very cute place in Portobello Road, Notting hill. It's a modern European restaurant with lots of different options. 2ppl paid £45."
  • "Really yummy food at quite reasonable prices for the portion size and area."
  • "Really good vibe to the place on the Saturday lunch time that we visited and of course a great location in buzzy Portobello Road."

Cons:

  • "The dishes are on the pricy side for what was on offer however each dish was a 'taste sensation' with subtle but distinct flavours."
  • "Food was okay but quite pricey. Octopus was nice but very small portion very thinly slice for the price."
  • "The hostess forgot to inform me my table was ready and I saw it had been open for some time."
  • "The food is very tasty and the combination of the ingredients is wonderful, but the best thing, I have to say, is the staff! Although the place was busy they’ve been really polite and impeccabile."
