Animal Welfare
Pros:
"The animals all looked loved & well looked after."
"Highlights include the macaws and grey parrots, and the meerkats (great fun!)."
"Selection of food and drink available but also loads of picnic benches to bring your own food."
"Some of the animals didn't seem to have that much space but I guess if they've been rescued then it's probably better than they had before!"
Cons:
"Some of the animal enclosures looked ok. Others seemed small and the animals bored and unstimulated."
"A couple of the birds that were housed alone didn't look very happy so it would be great if they could either be housed together or if they could find a place with a companion."
"One of the racoons was pacing back and forth which was a little concerning so they may need further attention."
"Half of it was closed and alot less animals. Was not impressed with some of the enclosures."
Facilities and Accessibility
Pros:
"Walk ways were clean and well maintained."
"Plenty of free parking and refreshments and food available onsite."
"All the walkways are perfectly even to Push our wheelchair on."
"The toilets were clean and ideal for wheelchair friendly use."
Cons:
"First impressions often set the scene. The overflow car park was pretty much just a huge puddle and extremely muddy."
"Unfortunately, it's quite small and I can't see myself returning anytime soon given the location."
"The overflow car park was just a massive puddle surrounded by think mud making parking and walking very awkward."
"A couple of places where I couldn't get the wheelchair in but that may be part of the work going on."
Staff and Customer Service
Pros:
"The staff were all very friendly & helpful."
"The keepers are keen to talk about the animals."
"Staff were so friendly and great service."
"A really fantastic afternoon out at this reasonably priced local Zoo. The animal enclosures where really well kept."
Cons:
"I asked how to complain & didn't receive a response!"
"Long waits but negative review to disgustingly rude bar staff (blonde one in particular)."
"After a couple of emails back & fourth (over a couple of months) I received an incredibly rude email back."
"We ordered dinner to our table number, they came in to "find us" didn't bring us the food until we complained."
Value for Money
Pros:
"I don't know how they run on the £5 per person entry fee, they really do deserve the donations."
"£5 each entry, really good selection of animals."
"Reasonable priced (£5 per head). Nice zoo."
"Amazing day out and so cheap!"
Cons:
"Attended a few years ago, back then, the entrance to the zoo was through the pub, which I really didn't like."
"Prices when out of the offer with adults at £7! At this price (for what is there) is quite extortionate."
"The price was very high and some of the cages were empty."
"Had a really lovely time here. Staff were all friendly and willing to answer any questions. The owner himself was also friendly and knowledgeable and took time to talk to us and share information and future visions for the park."
