Location and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "This place is huge, beautifully located at the seaside with a spectacular view."
  • "A lovely place right on the seafront! I didn’t get the chance to eat as I was only resting for a short while but the drinks were nice and the atmosphere was immaculate."
  • "Great location and atmosphere. Friendly staff."
  • "Wow ... what an incredibly rude way of doing business."
  • "The location is lovely, but I feel that is the only thing worth the money."

Cons:

  • "It was a Monday so very quiet. Food v good. Nice chilled Pinot grigio. There was 12 of us and all food was good. My only annoyance is service 10% added to bill. It seems to becoming the normal these days."
  • "Lovely place at the end of the beach. If you can sit outside on a nice day there is no better view. We came on a Thursday it was very busy the staff were rushed so the service was not great."
  • "Absolutely gorgeous location, overlooking the western lawns and, of course, out to sea. Food is good, some lovely takes on traditional French cuisine, portions are, however, a little on the meagre side."
  • "Location is lovely but food pretty average. We found a hair in one dish (which was taken off the bill) and the crackling for roast pork was left off one dish and then when it did arrive it was rubbery."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Absolutely exquisite food. Fresh, well prepared with imagination and care."
  • "Ideal place for a date or gathering, seaview and spacious terrace. Variety of vegetarian options, set menu and desserts. Really liked fishcake and mushroom risotto, good wine and beer selection, friendly service."
  • "Great food & staff we had Luis looking after us he was a truly lovely guy."
  • "The food was delicious - the risotto was the best we've ever had and the duck starter delicious."

Cons:

  • "We had dinner here after touring around the cliffs. The view was very nice from our table. Staff was lovely too. It was be nice if the food was up to par. It was OK but definitely did not worth the money."
  • "The only thing I didn’t like about my order was the bread which wasn’t toasted properly."
  • "The food was tasty and looked good, although the veg in the Sea Bass looked like it was out of a packet of frozen veg."
  • "We had an outstanding experience here. We arrived without a booking, needing to eat and be gone in an hour. The maitre d (Jacqot?)was utterly charming and helpful. We sat in the bar, he took our order immediately; he’d obviously told the waitress who brought our drinks and we were eating in 20mins. Admittedly we had salads and risotto but we even had time for dessert."

Service

Pros:

  • "Great views from the balcony so best on a sunny day. Part of a chain, good value well presented food. Shame they do not seem to offer 500 ml carafes of wine here. The staff were very busy but managed to stay calm and friendly, despite people wanting to change tables because of the sun."
  • "The food was delicious - the risotto was the best we've ever had and the duck starter delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient. We couldn't fault it. Prices were reasonable. We would certainly recommend and definitely go again."
  • "Really enjoyed our evening, we turned up 30 minutes early, was no problem, and shown to a nice window seat, waiter Alessandro was very prompt to take our order and explained that two of the dishes were unavailable, didn’t matter there was plenty of selection to choose from."
  • "Nice place to chill with a drink - though I can honestly only echo the other reviews here complaining about the food. We had two meals and both were a mess - the chicken dry, the mash and veggies way over-cooked. The waiter was nice to redo our meals and the food was a lot better second time."

Cons:

  • "We wanted to have breakfast at Pierre Bistro, but we were 10 minutes late. So we had an Earl Grey tea, a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant. The view was beautiful and we thought we'd stay a little longer and have lunch. And we were not disappointed. My friend had the steak frites and I had the chicken printanier. It was very tasty, everything was very well prepared and the sauces were just delicious. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The Pierre Bistro is not only recommended for its view. The food and the staff also deserve the rating 1, or in this case 5 stars ;-)"
  • "The service was terrible. Two wait staff tried to take our order, so we were never sure if anything would be correct. We had to wait 20 minutes to get the bill and that was after desperately trying to get wait staff’s attention. Others in the restaurant seemed to be having the same difficulty."
  • "Had a fantastic meal here at the weekend, the atmosphere was good the staff seemed on the ball, the food arrived at our table in good timing. The only part of the food that was not that great was the French style chicken it was dry, but I explained that the rest was great apart from that one item on my plate. The waiter we had was luka, wow what a really friendly and polite person, made the evening even more enjoyable, thankyou luka. Defiantly be going back there again."
  • "I can honestly say this was my worst experience while visiting a restaurant in Eastbourne. When you enter everything looks great. Proceeded to sit outside to eat our food as it was a beautiful day, to have a lady sit in front of me with a fluffy dog on her lap and the hair fly over to our table on more than one occasion. I under some people love ther animals, but this is not hygienic. There should be a designated area for people to sit with dogs and they should NOT be allowed on laps where there hair can travel to other people's plates its absolutely shocking. Apart from this awful experience, all i received was a very dry overcooked burger and about 5 fries. Paid and left never to return EVER again"
