Location and Views

Pros:

  • "Such a peaceful and easy place to get to, views across the top of Dartmoor and the Tors, were breathtaking."
  • "Great site with fantastic views."
  • "The site is easy to get to and is walking distance from Lydford Gorge and several local pubs."
  • "Superb views of Dartmoor."
  • "Beautifully peaceful site, well positioned on the edge of Lydford Village."
  • "Great location for the gorge, there is a great castle/ Court building (free entry) you can look around and would highly recommend the granite way which is also within walking distance."
  • "Lovely peaceful site and location - we have visited 3 times - and great for Lydford Gorge NT and local walks."

Cons:

  • "Be careful which pitch you are allocated."
  • "The Lydford Gorge didn't massively appeal to us as it was a bit tame in terms of terrain but I can see it being perfect for kids and so a great location for families as it was only a very short walk away with tea rooms and lovely views of the waterfall."
  • "Limited supplies from warden's office - no shops in village so stock up en route or eat out."
  • "Cycling the Granite Trail is easy be warned a very unexpected steep sharp left-hand corner at the end Oakhampton can be an unpleasant surprise."
  • "Tent field is right at the back of the site and there is no lighting in the fields at all."
